The Clinkerbelle's go to Magic Mountain (well, half of them anyway)

Today me and the boy made a trip to Magic Mountain. It was to be his first visit to the park since 2006 and he was all ready to try some new rides now that he's that "golden" height of 54".

We get to the park at opening and he got to take part in the opening ceremonies, and push the "fun botton" or whatever it's called.

The president of Fun (this looks ALOT like William (wrs28330) but I'm not sure if it was). If it was, sorry I didn't say hi.

They were doing all these dances, but "Somebody" was embarrased. One of the awesome employees helped him get into it.

Oh yeah, just in case you weren't sure where we were

Then Mr. Six, Bugs, Daffy and some of the other Looney Tunes came out to join the fun

Then he was brought up on stage to pull the "lever of fun" (thus opening the park)

Once the park was open we made a bee-line for Tatsu, but it was still opening, as was X2. So instead we headed up to Samurai Summit and Ninja.

After two quick rides on Ninja (without even leaving our seat) we headed over to Superman.

I still find it funny how freaked out people get with this ride.

After a p-p-picture with p-p-porky pig

It was off to Josh's first 54" coaster, Scream. Remember, this was a kid who 1 1/2 years ago wouldn't ride Rock N Roller Coaster, so to say I was concerned about him not wanting to ride, was an understatement. But ... the kid loved it.

As soon as we got off, the first words out of his mouth were "can we ride Batman now". (we had thought up an "intensity scale" of the 54" rides at SFMM and that was next on the list).

But first we took a ride on Colossus and Goliath. Each line today was no more than a 1 or 2 train wait, and most rides we absolutely walked-on. It was great.

Before Batman, we decided to take a little break and have lunch. But first, we spotted some super-heroes.

Since Batman right after lunch doesn't work well, we took a spin on Gold Rusher next.

And then Jet Stream twice, sprinkled with some Terminator pics in between.

Ninja as seen from Jet Stream

As you can see from the flag on the Sky Tower, it was quite windy today, which is probably why it didn't open. At least not that we saw.

I took some Terminator Construction pics, if you want to see them, they are in the Construction thread here. Terminator Coaster is Going Vertical!

Walking over to Batman, we ran into some other characters, and Josh's dance partner from the opening.

Time for Batman

This would be our longest wait of the day at about 10 minutes.

But Josh LOVED it. Says it's his favorite ride in the park now.

Once that was done we went and rode Viper and then got some funnel cakes and headed home. It was a nice 3 1/2 hour visit to the park. We'll be back soon, probably after Terminator opens.

Peace Tatsu. See you next time.

Looks like you coaster-aholics had a dance-tastic time. Can't believe the incredibly short ride wait times ..and Ninja twice without having to get back in line! Zow!

Great report as always, Clinks. Especially happy that your son had the time of his life.

You guys got to see Batman! Out of all the times I've gone this year, I've only seen Green Lantern and Robin.

Thanks for the great report and photos! I'm glad your son enjoyed Batman and maybe next time he can enjoy Tatsu and X2 and be well on his way to becoming a lifelong coaster enthusiast.

Just a tip about those two rides- they often aren't opened at opening but if you linger around (go to Viper, go to Revolution, check back periodically), you'll be golden and be able to just walk on. That is assuming that they're testing trains and it's not too windy

Now if only I had taken that advice yesterday with X2!

Looks like you had fun and that was what was important! I actually loved Superman-I thought it was the best one there (in 2001). Goliath we had a problem with-our size meant our heads were above the head rest and with the g-forces kinda made us go green a bit.

Peace,
Roo

I love that Josh opened up Magic Mountain. I think we may need to make a trip up there now that it looks so nice. I'll need a ride buddy so I call dibs on Josh.

Fantastic report. Fun little opening event. Seems like Six Flags is changing. More characters, more fun little things. I like seeing that. And it looks like you guys had a great time which is the most important thing of all.

Wow, amazingly short wait times on a weekend! (especially when DLR is totally overrun right now). Did you notice what the worst wait for Tatsu was during your visit?

I think 2005-2006 was about the last time I was there at Magic Mountain.

I do love the coasters there. My favorite coaster is Goliath. I have been on Superman. Great ride.

Your son is so adorable Gregg. It looked like you two had a great time.

Great TR and Photos.

No, but I heard it was in the 20-30 minute area.

Nice trip report, Gregg.
Nightwing doesn't really look like Nightwing.
Nice father and son dynamic duo.
