    Best Six Flags park?

I've only been to one Six Flags park in my lifetime, but that was when it was known as Wild World. That park now, i hear, is one of the dirtiest parks in the country. Not to mention the employees are ignorant as hell. Now i ask you all, what is the best SF park in terms of pleasant employees, a clean park etc.

Discovery Kingdom is actually incredibly nice. It's clean, employees are really nice and look like they care about what they do and the rides are pretty good. Definitely the nicest of the six flags parks.

    Re: Best Six Flags park?

I've been to 7 different Six Flags Parks:

I would rank them like this:

    Overall:
    Six Flags Great Adventure
    Six Flags Over Georgia
    Six Flags Over Texas
    Six Flags Magic Mountain
    Six Flags Fiesta Texas
    Six Flags Discovery Kingdom
    Six Flags Astroworld (now closed)

    Theming:
    Six Flags Fiesta Texas
    Six Flags Over Georgia
    Six Flags Great Adventure
    Six Flags Discovery Kingdom
    Six Flags Over Texas
    Six Flags Magic Mountain
    Six Flags Astroworld

    Coasters:
    Six Flags Great Adventure
    Six Flags Over Georgia
    Six Flags Over Texas
    Six Flags Magic Mountain
    Six Flags Fiesta Texas
    Six Flags Astroworld
    Six Flags Discovery Kingdom

Best Food (out of the ones I've actually eaten at):
    Six Flags Over Texas
    Six Flags Over Georgia
    Six Flags Magic Mountain
(the rest I didn't eat at when we were there)

Best Staff: Six Flags Over Georgia

As a note, I haven't been to SFDK since 2005, but were going in 2 weeks. So it may possibly move up.

    Re: Best Six Flags park?

I have been to three parks. My old home park was Six Flags New England.
My then temporary home park for a year was Six Flags over Georgia.
Not really my home park, but the closest park to my future in-laws house (thus the one I have visited most recently) is Six Flags Great America.

My favorite was Six Flags Great America. This park has charm, and provided that Six Flags current management understands that theme extends beyond the front of a ride (my one gripe with current management...retheming a New Orleans building to be a Johnny Rockets? Really? The other two were not enough?), it can stay this way. Granted this charm was there pre-Six Flags, but the old management kept it intact (unlike the other two parks). I really was impressed with the selection of rides here. Granted the only ride that really shocked me and blew me away was American Eagle (and I had heard such bad things about it), but all the rides were solid, and the maintenance was the best of any coaster park I have ever visited. Of probably more than a dozen visits to SFNE, two to SFoG...it took only one trip to SFGAm to decide thier staff was the best. They were awesome.

Six Flags over Georgia is pretty ghetto. The personel were by far the worst, and the ops were pretty damn slow, but the awesome rides they have here make up for it. For all the "really?" moments this park gives you, between Goliath, Mind Bender, GASM, Superman, Monster Plantation and Acrophobia you have some of my top rides in any park (we're talking thrill parks here of course). For those rides alone, I would go back. Even with the super crowds and poor ops.

And Six Flags New England. Now, without Superman, this wouldn't be a world class park. This park benefited from Six Flags buying it, loading it with a kick-butt ride, but not burying it in debt. The park never got too big for it's surrounding population (which sadly does limit the coaster lineup) but it got enough of a boost to put it on the map. The small size, combined with the draw of Superman give this park a good attendance without high maintenence costs. There is never the excuse "we can't do it right now". This means the park is clean, the rides are running, and the place is staffed properly. Now while I would only say Superman, Batman and Thunderbolt are actually the only good coasters, Superman is good enough to keep me coming (though I have not been in 3 years). And this was all under the old management. I am a bit concerned though about the photos I have seen of the last few years with the new Wiggles World and park expansions cutting down lots of the trees. The trees and hills and the wooded area in the middle of the park were part of it's charm...and I don't want it to become a big flat concrete nightmare.

So there you go. I would visit all 3 for seperate reasons. SFGAm for charm and good rides and good ops. SFoG for awesome rides. SFNE for my favorite coaster and easy to deal with crowds.

My vote goes for SFDK. Great, friendly, knowledgeable employees. Great quality coasters with great load times = short waits. World class animal attractions. Nice clean, unique environment with great patrons as well!

So after our trip to SFDK last week, I need to make some changes:

    Overall:
    Six Flags Great Adventure
    Six Flags Over Georgia
    Six Flags Over Texas
    Six Flags Magic Mountain
    Six Flags Discovery Kingdom
    Six Flags Fiesta Texas
Six Flags Astroworld (this is WAY down on the list though)

    Theming:
    Six Flags Fiesta Texas
    Six Flags Discovery Kingdom
    Six Flags Over Georgia
    Six Flags Great Adventure
    Six Flags Over Texas
    Six Flags Magic Mountain
    Six Flags Astroworld

    Coasters:
    Six Flags Great Adventure
    Six Flags Over Georgia
    Six Flags Over Texas
    Six Flags Magic Mountain
    Six Flags Fiesta Texas
    Six Flags Astroworld
    Six Flags Discovery Kingdom

    Re: Best Six Flags park?

If I may be so bold, I would like to submit that Six Flags America (Baltimore) is at or near the very bottom. The entrance area is not so bad, but really...the rest of the park is pretty much a dump. At least it was this past Summer. On the up side, the lines were not really what you could call "long." On the down side, almost every other ride had weeds growing around it with no theming whatsoever.

Disney related question: So....how in the world did Six Flags get permission to play the actual recording from Pirates of the Caribbean? In their ghetto version of Pirates (A flume ride with pirate theme boats which are half filled with water which completely soaks your shoes), you go around the first corner and you hear "Yo ho, yo ho, a pirates life for me!" in it's entirety. The SAME recording from Disneyland. X Atencio's tune....at a Six Flags park....

    What the...

I'll try to get some photos up later.

Other stuff...buildings were falling apart, flies were all over the restaurants, your shoes stuck to the floor....it was just nasty and sad.

Small wonder that company is going bankrupt.

On the other hand, of all the Six Flags Parks, I think Magic Mountain is now way out in front in terms of the number and variety of rides. Six Flags America had maybe five coasters total....maybe six. It just made me appreciate what we have right here in SoCal so much more.

    Re: Best Six Flags park?

I do have to agree about Six Flags America being near the bottom. Granted, my one and only visit there was nearly ten years ago, but I really got that "ghetto" vibe, especially from the park employees, who really didn't seem to care about their jobs, and would spend more time chatting with each other that actually operating rides. Although I do also have to agree and give them credit for the nice entrance area. The Pirate flume was closed when I went, so I don't know about their use of the song.

For me, tops on the list of overall is SF Great America and SF Discovery Kingdom. They just have a great blend of rides and animals that's hard to beat.

Although on a purely thrill ride front, it's gotta be SF Magic Mountain all the way. No one else has X2 or Deja Vu. Tatsu is amazing, and Terminator is a lot of fun. It needs more flat rides, but for roller coasters, I think SFMM beats them all (except Cedar Point).

The only Six Flags I've ever been to is SFMM and it has always been very dirty and scary. There's no theme and it's dirty. Employees are just mehish. They just sit there, most of them look very bored with their jobs. Lots of bad crowds hang around there, not people I would want to get in an arguement with. The last time I went was in May with a few of my friends

Wow, you went in May and you still think that? Have you not seen the positive changes that have gone on at the park over the past 2-3 years? They are constantly improving and getting better.

Even the park staff admits they are only about 1/2 way to their ultimate goal.

^ Just because they're improving doesn't mean that it's not dirty, employees are uninterested, and has bad crowds.

...that being said, they're certainly improving. The dirtiness is actually limited to a few spots *coughFortLeJohncough* and I was pretty impressed in my last visit (Termination Day).

    Re: Best Six Flags park?

As has been mentioned many times on these forums, the Six Flags management is well aware that the bathrooms need serious upgrading (they said some of it is original to the park opening in the 70s), and it is in fact the next major project for next year.

Not to mention dangerous! They had a bad gang problem there, and the last few times I have been there I have seen some pretty sketchy people!

Show me some statistics, not just suburbanites being spooked by the scary city people to back up that "dangerous" statement.

    Re: Best Six Flags park?

For me the best Six Flags is Six Flags Magic Mountain for the variety of Coasters and Six Flags Great Adventure in NJ .

I loved Six Flags Holland and Belgium when Six Flags was still in Europe . I bought season passes there and it was valid for all US Parks as well .

The best Six Flags Coaster is : X2 at SFMM and Superman Ride of Steel SFNE .

This is the six flags parks i've already been :

Six Flags Belgium ( Walibi Belgium )
Six Flags Holland ( Walibi World )
    Six Flags New England
    Six Flags Over Georgia
    Six Flags Great Adventure
    Great Escape
    La Ronde ( Montreal - Quebec )
    Six Flags Magic Mountain
    Warner Bros Movie World Madrid
