Definitely Candy Cane Inn. It is affordable, safe and has a quick, safe and free shuttle to and from the park.
GREAT BLOG! It has great guides and photos and videos all about Disneyland, Walt Disney World, Walt Disney himself, Disney's films, Pixar, other movies, gadgets, and everything inbetween. Visit now!

Re: what is the best disneyland area hotel?

I've only stayed at Disneyland Hotel & Tropicana Inn so far. Out of my two stays. I liked Tropicana. Close to the gate. Didn't need to obey no monorail rules. Tropicana people treated me very nice. I have been in a nicer pool however. But everything was just fine and was happy that I was able to have internet while I was in California thanks to them.

As mentioned above, what are your priorties?

There are many good hotels in the area.

TripAdvisor is one of the biggest Travel Review sites, and they list the Doubletree on Harbor Blvd near the Convention Center as Number 1, based on the reviews from actual travelers.

Anaheim Hotels: Read Anaheim Hotel Reviews and Compare Prices - TripAdvisor

But it all depends what you are looking for...

Some of my favorites, a good Hotel at a resonable price is Howard Johnson's, great service, large rooms and great grounds and water play areas.

Looking for an Extended Stay Hotel (Suites with full kitchens in the room) I would pick the Residence Inn Maingate, mainly due to its location across the street from the Anaheim GardenWalk.

Re: what is the best disneyland area hotel?

Going to DLR for my birthday next month.....very excited, as this will be a week long visit!

I booked the Best Western Pavilion because I read (fairly) good reviews about it and the price was right. I'm not expecting the Ritz, just clean and quiet.
I'm not planning on being in the room much except to nap and sleep.

One thing I'm wondering is if the shuttle (ART) is convenient and easy to use. We'll probably use it twice a day; will head to room for a mid-day break, then back to the park until it closes.

I'm a new member and I'm thrilled to have found this forum. Cool peeps and lots of good info!

The ART system is well run, but like any type of public bus service, there are some minor glitches on occasion.

    Here is their website.

If by best you mean luxurious, then don't stay in Anaheim.

For the same price as the GCH you can stay in a AAA 5 Diamond rated hotel in Newport Beach or Laguna Beach.

Sure, it is a 20-30 minute drive away from the DLR, but these hotels are a bargain when compared to the GCH. Especially when you consider that the GCH doesn't even come close to these other hotels in terms of service of luxury.

    "Minor glitches"

You mean like overcrowded, smelly, dirty, delayed and reckless driven trollies?

All that and the privilege to pay for it?

    Yeah, "minor" describes it best!

I'm restating the warning: Stay away from the castle across the street from DL!
Leaky cooler = moldy patches. Old nasty carpet, yuck yuck yuck. Yuck.

We like the HoJo, but after adopting a couple more kids we have to do the kid suite (not available at HoJo or DL resort hotels) or buy two rooms.

Kids' suite at Portofino is fine - not a ton of space in the kid 'room', but clean and nice, good service, kids love it there.

Trying Park Vue for the first time in June...

Jebus! ARE there any perks, this is the correct usage in your sentence, I'm so sorry but for me this detracts from your point, I know you are sincere, but this kind of mistake appears over and over and over and over and, I'm sorry, but it's really bugging me tonight........(sigh)...I'm going to bed now.

    Ayres hotel anaheim,
You can take the Art to the park if you wanted to,
but it's only a 10-15 minute drive depending on the time.

The hotel is affordable, almost half the price of Disneyland Hotel, and has the best reviews on TripAdvisor.com for hotels in anaheim.

Quality, comfort, affordability, fairly close proximity, can't be beat.
