Hotel Help!

Hello, I plan on taking my GF to DL in March for her birthday.

We're looking for a good clean, nice looking hotel within walking distance of the DLR. So I thought I'd post here for some feedback. Also we've stayed at the Portofino twice last year and would prefer not to stay there again. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks MiceChat!

For being close by we like the Tropicana and camelot. If you stay at the camelot request the top floor.

With the requirement of walking distance, I'd say Candy Cane Inn. I prefer it over the others mentioned.

Or better yet, use Priceline and for $50 you might get the Marriott or the Hilton. Other hotels available for that same $50 are the Hyatt, Marriott Suites and the Crown Plaza, but they aren't within walking distance.

The Hyatt and the Crown Plaza have very convenient and free shuttles though.

DO NOT USE Priceline if one of your major requirements is walking distance. We have only gotten a hotel within walking distance once (we use Priceline about every other month).

How is the King Bed room @ HOJO? It says Highway side also, how is that?

I agree with this.

If you have a car/don't mind driving, Priceline is the way to go. If walking distance is one of your main criteria, don't use Priceline.

How is the King Bed room @ HOJO? It says Highway side also, how is that?

I have only had one nice room at hojo's. It is not my favorite hotel. If you're by the freeway it is loud, if your not int he new building the rooms suck. The one good experience we were in the newer taller building. It's also a walk...not a horrible walk, but at the end of a long day it is so much nicer to just got to the tropicana or camelot.

I know a lot of people love hojo's, but I have not had the best of experiences there.

The highway side is fine - it's just an ugly view LOL It really depends on the buildingg the room is in - I've been in a REALLY spacious one and another that was just a regular size. But I haven't had any sound issues - and I am a light sleeper!

I cant decide where we should stay...What about other hotels in the area, i guess i wouldnt mind something a little further then walking distance, but not too far!

Over the years I've stayed at The Annabella, Anaheim Plaza (twice),The Candy Cane (twice) Park Vue Inn, Quality Inn and Suites and the Radisson Maingate on South Harbor. I've never had any major issues with any of them, for me I stay in the place I get the best deal on price wise, since I personally can't see paying a lot of money for a room I'm just going to sleep in for a few hours anyway and I don't need any amenities except a bed, towels and a fridge.

Many of the resort hotels are also on the ART system if they don't have their own shuttle. (Not that many have their own anymore). I've also used the ART system when I stayed at the Radisson and even when I stayed at the Quality Inn. They don't have a shuttle stop there, but they do have one at HoJo's and I just used that and walked across the street to my hotel. Like SCUBAbe said, its not a bad walk to HoJo's but at night after 16 or so hour of being in the park, I didn't want to walk any further than I had to. I got a three day ART pass for $10.

Well, booked at the Tropicana for two nights, Standard King room.

The website says check in at the Tropicana is 4pm, anyone know if they do early check in sometimes?
