Question Desert Inn & Suites or Anaheim Plaza Hotel??

    Hi!

We are in the need of some advise and help of you micechatter experts We will be visiting Disneyland Resort on October for the Halloween festivities, but we haven't too much budget.

I just saw online at both hotels Anaheim Plaza is at $59 + tax per night and Desert Inn is at $69.00 + tax. But...which one is better?? I had read in theses same forums some reviews of both oh them, but, never compared side by side. We are basically looking for a clean, safe place, close to the resort, and kind staff.

We are a couple of adults and my 5 years old kid, for 8 nights

Any help will be very appreciated, and many, many thanks in advance.

I've stayed @ the Desert Inn & Suites before and it was some years ago and @ the time it was your basic room, it was clean, it did also have a microwave & fridge. Parking there can be a little tight, I think it includes a continental breakfast but can't remember. It is directly across from the park, so that's a huge plus when you want to bring your little one back to the room for a nap during the day. Also being directly across the park you don't have to deal with driving to the park and paying for onsite parking @ Disneyland.

I think the price is outstanding of only $69.00 per night plus taxes. I would reserve it so you can keep the price. If you change your mind you can always cancel it without any charges. I think they only require 72 hour advance notice for cancelations. As you get closer to your actual travel dates you will find the price going up for the hotel room, so that's why I say lock in a pretty good price now.

I've never stayed at the Desert Inn before, but have stayed at the Anaheim Plaza many times. It's clean, comfy, and the staff has always been great.
Those short walks at the end of long days in the park are fabulous!

Oh, also, the little coffee shack on the right side when headed towards DL, in front of the Ramada I think, used to serve a decent cup of coffee.
I haven't stopped in there in awhile so don't know if it's still good.

Re: Desert Inn & Suites or Anaheim Plaza Hotel??

I've stayed at both. If you are driving, add $4 a night to park you car at Anaheim Plaza. The rooms there are big and the bottom floor rooms have a nice sized enclosed patio. We found that the showers next door and the maid's cart on the sidewalk were both loud enough to wake us but that our stay there was fine otherwise. They don't offer a free continental breakfast. There is the coffee shop at the Ramada Maingate as you walk to the park as well as a little pizza place that wasn't half bad.

DI&S is our preffered hotel when we can't get the entertainment card rate at HOJO (check for that rate here). We find the rooms average but fine for us as we don't spend much time there anyway. They don't charge for parking although, as mentioned, it is a little tight. They do offer a free continental breakfast but I've been told it's small. We usually ate in our room or were already at the parks before it started. They also have an indoor heated pool.

For the same price, I'd take the DI&S and save myself some walking. Although, I'd check for the entertainment card rate at HOJO first. lol

ETA: I'm pretty sure I have pics of both if you want to see the two queen rooms.

I will really appreciate that! And thanks for the link to the Entertainment Rate! I didn't know about that.

I've stayed at both and I liked dessert inn way better. Anaheim plaza seemed more outdated.

O.k. here's a couple of the Anaheim Plaza room.

Standing in the doorway looking into the room. The bathroom was to my right in this pic.

And standing by the bed looking towards the patio.

    And the Desert Inn.

    As we entered the room.

    View of fridge/microwave area

And a view from the vanity area of the eating area.
