Smile What's your favorite Good Neighbour hotel?

I've stayed at a couple and am planning a Halloween trip this year so I thought I would find out if there is any other great hotel I should try...

We have stayed at Howard Johnson's & Tropicana and now stay at Tropicana( doesn't mean I don't like the Howard Johnson's but we like a closer location). For us there has never been a problem, always gotten a clean room & staff been helpful & fast. We like having the fridge & microwave in room and the store has lots of snacks.

We've stayed at the Portafino, and the Tropacana. We liked both, but for price and location you can't beat the Tropacana.

OFF TOPIC... They still have the night club where Ricky Ricardo's band plays?

(Sorry). We do like the Anabella, by the way. Very friendly staff.

    Yeah, that's what Jeff thought!
    Good morning, son
    In twenty years from now
Maybe we'll both sit down and have a few beers
And I can tell you 'bout today
And how I picked you up and everything changed
    It was pain
    Sunny days and rain
I knew you'd feel the same things...

I have stayed at both the Anaheim Hilton, and the Candy Cane Inn, and I enjoyed them both.

Why is the Candy Cane Inn not on this thread?

The poll seems a bit limited:

I voted for the Carousel because that's where we are staying and I am thinking positive this year!

Re: What's your favorite Good Neighbour hotel?

We've stayed at Carousel once, BW Park Place once, Camelot 3 or 4 times, and Tropicana once. All are fine. We like these because they are closest to the crosswalk. Another close one is Park Vue but we've yet to stay there. We now like the Costco vacation packages and the only GN Hotels in that area that they offer are BW Park Place and Carousel.

These hotels give you a place to lay your head at night and are close enough to run back to during the day if your child has a meltdown and needs a nap!

On the downside, the hotels have very limited parking with tight spaces. Pools are nothing fancy. And though they include breakfast, it's usually very basic but definitely enough to get you going.

We have also stayed at the DL Hotel and this last time we stayed at the Paradise Pier Hotel. We realized that the GN Hotels definitely lack that "Disney touch"----that little something extra you expect (and enjoy) from Cast Members. But is the Disney Touch worth the price difference?? Something you have to decide for yourself.

Another positive of staying at a GN Hotel----staying at a non-Disney hotel forces you to come back into the real world where there are non-Disney restaurants with non-Disney prices.

There are perks either way you go. All of the GN Hotels are very similar. When we stay non-Disney, we always pick the ones within walking distance so that we are not dependent on shuttles.

I disagree, there are a lot of different types of Hotels and Motels that are Good Neighbor Hotels/Motels.

The closest ones are the old fashioned Motels from the 1960's, just cleaned up. Still outdoor corridors, parking right in front of the room, small pools, also usually in the parking lot or on the roof, and very limited services.

Then there are places like the Howard Johnson Plaza Hotel, which is a true Hotel, with interior hallways, landscaped grounds, and nice pool/water play areas. But they are a limited service Hotel.

You have extended Stay Hotels, such as the Residence Inn Maingate on Disney Way next to the new Anaheim GardenWalk. Much bigger rooms, full kitchens, living room areas, and even some free breakfasts and dinners.

And then you have the Full Service Hotels, such as the Sheraton Park, Anaheim Hilton and the Anaheim Marriott. These hotels offer Valet Parking, Bellhops to take care of your luggage, restaurants on site and room service, etc.

There is a big difference in the services that the Hotels and Motels offer, and of course, different Price Points, but it seems that even the Full Service Hotels off-site can be found for about half the price of a Disney Owned Hotel.

We haven't stayed at any of the GN hotels (except Annabella) since we started using Priceline, so I'll abstain.
