Re: The SoCal. Steak House Thread

I've been to Saddle Ranch a few times but never actually got a steak. I'll do that next time I go.

My choice is Porterhouse. It's the first steak that ever truly blew my mind so I've been trying to repeat that ever since. (you also get a lot of meat). After that I tend to do RibEye.

I also love filet mignon too but you kind of get that if you order Porterhouse.

Re: The SoCal. Steak House Thread

I LOVE this thread probably because I love steaks

We tried BOA Steakhouse on Sunset last month with the girls and it was out of this world. Everything from the ambiance to food was stunning.

In the battle between Ruth Chris & Morton's I'm a RC fan because I like the food better overall and their creme brulee can't be beat.

My favorite local steakhouse would be Maestro's. I like the one here in Corona Del Mar because it's close to home. I could eat their lobster mashed potatoes for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Me (and a bunch of other MC folk) went to Steakhouse 55 at the DL Hotel last saturday and for the price and for the quality of the food, this is a VERY reasonably priced dining location. My porterhouse (medium rare) was $29ish and it was DELICIOUS.

Re: The SoCal. Steak House Thread

Last night, the gang went to MASTRO'S STEAKHOUSE in Beverly Hills.

This is some seriously good eating. We started with some wine.

Some folks got the seafood tower (customize with whatever you want)

This is the double porterhouse. It's 48oz and $88 (24oz is $50). Most of us shared one of these while my friend Rick got the bone-in filet and he thought it was excellent as well.

The sides were $10 each mostly except for some notables. We ordered the Gnocchi (INSANE... must have), Lobster mashed potatoes, and not pictured here is: gorgonzola mac & cheese, sauteed spinach, steamed broccoli.

We were all so full that we shared one dessert: their signature Buttercake a la mode. It was pretty amazing.

There's more than one Mastro's in southern CA so I highly recommend. Mastro's and CUT right now are my top 2 favorite steakhouses.
