Cool Re: Horrible! Horrible! Downtown Disney....

We like the ESPN zone the best for food in DTD. The pizza was ok at Naples - it was not bad but it was just pizza. We have eaten at Tortilla Jo's only twice but both times it was tasty and the service was good. Certainly not authentic Mexican food but it was good enough. We ate at the Jazz Kitchen once and will never go back there. The food was gross. We had to send it back because we couldn't eat it. Rainforest Cafe was the same. We ate there a few times but the food is just not good enough to go back again.

We usually drive from Anaheim to Bakersfield so we stop at Lyons Ave. in Santa Clarita and get Jack in the Box on the way home. Inside the park we get a soup bread bowl or salad. Lately we have been getting the hot dogs from Award Weiners in DCA. If we have to eat in DTD, its usually ESPNzone. Plus, the Glowtini there is AWESOME!

Re: Horrible! Horrible! Downtown Disney....

Tortille Joe's is OK, I've eaten there several times and never thought of it as having bad or exceptional food, but the service has always been good, had my daughters 18th birthday there up in the Balcony room with the curtain, they did a fine job for our large group.

Rainforest is waaaay over priced, and noisy, does not lend itself to decent conversation and utlimately degenerates into raised voices and and saying "I still can't hear you!". I never go there except if the kids want to and they usually dont want to.

Jazz kitchen is great for entertainment, food and service.

Catal can be expensive but I look forward to eating there when we go.

Uva bar is good for lunch outside, the food comes out of Catal and I like Catal

House of Blues has great comfort food. not too expensive

Naples was decent but I was surrounded by families with little noisy kids and I just didnt like the vibe.

At the hotels, Steakhouse 55 can be expensive, but well worth is, but it's a distant 2nd to The Napa Rose which is my top choice for food and service and sense of value. If you want to be spendy on dinner that's the place to go!

I think Rainforest sucks myself! Also not a fan of Tortilla Joe's. I love Catal and have had decent meals at Ralph Brennan's.

Naples is horrid, yuck. Talk about the worst pizza I've ever had in my life.

Everytime we pass by it, my mom asks "Anyone want to go to Nipples?" xD

I seriously hate that restaurant with a passion, if it was a dog I'd put it down.

Re: Horrible! Horrible! Downtown Disney....

FYI, it's "Tortilla Jo's" ( no "e" ),

and since the "J" has the "h" sound, that would make the pronounciation " Tor-tee-ah Hoes "

around Christmas time they are "Tortilla Jo Jo Jo"

I really don't care for Rainforest Cafe, firstly. Secondly- I've eaten at Tortilla Jo's once, and really liked it! I forget what it was, now (it's been a year), but I distinctly remember liking it. All of my friends liked their food, too.

I've never had a decent meal at Rainforest. I prefer Catal. Or, Mexican food that is NOT at the DLR!

Everyone DOES have different tastes, it's what makes the world go round! Enjoy your Rainforest, and, I will enjoy my Mexican food in San Diego!

Could not agree with you more. Of course, most Mexican restaurants don't serve authentic Mexican food. But what Taco Smell sells is a lot worse than that.

I wonder how Tortilla Joe's food would compare to Rancho Suckalo inside Disneyland.

Nice to see the ESPN Zone getting some "love" in this thread. Doesn't really matter if you're a sports fan or not. Their food - especially the burgers, ribs, and salads, is darn good!

I could not agree more.

During the 2008 Food and Wine Festival we took part in the special event there with Guy Fieri of the Food Network. What a great time! For the price, this definitely the best food and restaurant available in the resort.

Besides, it's another excuse to go into the Grand Californian, which is such a kick anytime.

I could've done multiquote and saved a post, but didn't see this til after...

Re: Horrible! Horrible! Downtown Disney....

I had the crappiest experience at Catal's. We were a group of 8 - 4 adults and 4 children. Two of the adults ordered appetizers for dinner, all the kids ordered kids meals, and my husband and I ordered an entree (chicken dish) to share with a salad. The waiter brought out the appetizers, our salad and all the kids meals. Everyone ate and finished their meals, and we waited...and waited...and waited for our entree. The waiter came to the table and started clearing dishes when we asked him about our entree. "It should be out soon" he answered. So we pointed out that everyone had finished their meals and he says "would you like me to box it up for you?" We were so angry that we told him to just cancel the order. Considering how expensive the restaurant is, I was very disappointed in the service. I didn't even think the salad we had was all that great.

Definitely not going back there.
