French Dip Sandwich - Where can I get one?

Yup, it's a food topic. In my youth, I've enjoyed my first French Dip sandwich ever at Disneyland at the French Market. Coupled with their delicious steak fries, I was in amateur theme park foodie heaven.

And then they changed their menu. Like last year. Gone was the french dip. Gone were the steak fries.

I was disappointed but at least I could still get it at White Water Snacks at the Grand Californian Hotel. It didn't have the shredded meat or the steak fries and it didn't taste nearly as good but it was an option at least.

Not anymore.

White Water Snacks removed it from their menu recently too. Gah!

So does anyone know where I can get a French Dip sandwich at the resort nowadays? I don't know why they get rid of stuff so common as meat inside bread.

i'm interested in knowing too. I loved the French Dip in the French Market, too. And Whitewater was an acceptable substitute, sadly Whitewater is going the way of too many other restaurant venues in all of DL, too.

hopefully someone can suggest a great french dip, if not in DL, somewhere close by.

Add me to the list of people who'd really like it back at the French Market with the fries. That picture is making me really hungry. I don't know the answer to your question either though.

Well, it's not in the park but The Hat serves an awesome dip. The locations in Brea and Lake Forest may be the closest. Highly recommended. They have your steak fries too! www.thehat.com

Also, it's definitely a longer trek to L.A., but everyone should go at least once to Phillipe's, where the French Dip sandwich was invented! You can make it an excursion by taking the train from Orange County up to Union Station, then walk across the way to Olvera Street. After taking in the atmosphere on Olvera street, make your way up Alameda to Phillipe's for the original. www.phillipes.com

As for in the park, doesn't the River Belle offer a french dip? I haven't been in since the refurb, but I thought they had one...

Well, the Roast New York sandwich at the Riverbelle Terrace is served with a cup of au jus dipping sauce. There is also horseradish aoli on the condiment table, as well as carmelized mushrooms and onions. I like to make a sort of salad from the lettuce one the condiment cart to go with my sandwich.

It's Philippe's. I just had to look it up as I now crave a good French Dip.

Yah I frequent both those locations and love 'em, but sometimes when i'm in Disneyland I just want one. And you know how they say... you don't really miss something until it's gone?

Re: French Dip Sandwich - Where can I get one?

Hmmm...I've never had the French Dip at the Hat before. That's because I usually opt for the pastrami.

Maybe I should try the Prime Rib sandwich at River Belle as well.

The Riverbelle Terrace sandwich is pretty tasty. Try that next time and tell us what you think.

Yep, Riverbelle is the closest you'll come to a French Dip at the Park. It's Ok.
