Cool Naples..Great food, Great Fun to go!!

    Ok. Let’s talk food!

I had the chance to experience Naples in Downtown Disney. It’s the restaurant to the right of the trams right when you get off. My first visit , I had the Caesar salad, I was so impressed with the service and how good my salad was I came back! This time I had the Spinach salad. OMG! It had spinach with pancetta, candied pecans, goat cheese and a light olive oil vinaigrette dressing! It was incredible!!

    ok now discuss.....or what ever!!

I'll have to remember that, I haven't had a decent spinach salad in a long time.

The food in DL can be of somewhat questionable quality, but DTD is usually good. DCA seems better than DL too.

We always eat here. The Caesar Salad is great and the hand tossed pizza baked in the wood-fire oven is very good! Nice thin & crispy crust, nice sauce, fresh basil, great flavor. And we have always had excellent service.

(On a side note: The pizza at the To-Go bar next door sucks - probably because it sits a while)

This thread is making me hungry ... and now I can't wait to go back and try Naples out. I've eaten at mostly all the other places in DTD except Naples and HOB.

Re: Naples..Great food, Great Fun to go!!

I've had two experiences with Naples, and both included crappy service and bad food. I won't go back there. My standards are not sky high by any means, but I want a waitress who takes my drink order somewhere within 15 minutes of seating me, gets my food order right the second time, and serves me food that is hot. Naples failed to meet my minimal requirements both times.

Re: Naples..Great food, Great Fun to go!!

I'm with Sunny Girl. We've had nothing but bad luck with Naples. They are capable of good food, because we've had it. But often, they fail in the consistency department and we've had terrible service on many occasions. We finally gave up on the place and won't go back.

This may actually be a problem of their parent company, the Patina Group. We've had service problems at ALL of their Downtown Disney restaurants (Catal, Tortilla Joe's, and Naples). They have inventive restaurants and food, they just need better management and training to ensure that their restaurants hold up to expectations (especially given their hefty prices).

If they weren't such a well known and highly praised company, we'd let them slide, but there is no excuse for Patina to have such horrid service problems.

We can still recommend Jazz Kitchen and will take a chance on Catal from time to time (just because of the amazing food).

I hate giving a restaurant bad reviews, but this one has earned it.

That's really a good question. From what I hear, it's the same food, prepared the same way. Maybe it's because my perception is slightly skewed by the overall feeling of freshness and newness of DCA.

    I really don't know though.

..never had a problem at Naples with the service. I have only gotten the pizza each time however. For what its worth, I think the pizza is excellent...
