Could this REALLY happen?

So, I heard from my Health teacher that her sister drunk something, got really dizzy and could'nt remember the night before when the next day came.

It sounds like a case of Date Rape Drug (from this point on, DRD for sensitivive audiences) and she confirmed that it is.

This is where DTD comes it: It happened right there and then.

Soo...Should i worry about going there or better yet NOT GO AT ALL?

Please answer to ease my own worry

I'm assuming you are in high school, because you heard about this from your teacher. You should always be careful about where you leave your drinks and who is around you. This can happen anytime, at any place. Your teacher should probably notify DTD security. If this is a common occurence, it will need to be taken care of. I've been to the bars and restaurants at DTD dozens of times and nothing has ever happened to me. *knock on wood* Just be careful!

This seems an odd forum for this question, but no matter I suppose.

People intent on harming others can be found absolutely EVERYWHERE. There is no reason to avoid DTD because of one incident. Then you would need to avoid pretty much any public place.

However, you could use the unfortunate experience that someone else went through as a cautionary tale. You should always be on your guard. Never leave a drink unattended in a public place and stick to the "buddy system". Criminals LOOK for individuals that they think are easy targets.

I hope that the woman who suffered this crime comes out of the situation okay. What a horrible thing to have to go through.

And are you sure your teacher's sister didn't simply have a drunken blackout? Because a few too many can do that too.

If you're really concerned, just remember some really simple things. Never accept a drink a stranger (obviously not a bar tender) is handing to you, and always watch your drink. Don't put it on a table, walk away, and come back to it, don't turn your back to it, etc. If it makes you feel even more comfortable, you could even keep your hand on top of your drink as a more extreme measure.

You'll be fine, just use simple logic.

On a more honest note. It can happen. Just be sure if your going to go out for some fun, be with people you know and trust.
