    Musso and Frank - Hollywood

It's one of Hollywoods oldest restaurants, and it is famous for their martinis!

But in my opinion the food is pretty mediocre at best. It's not bad, it's just not astounding.

What I do like is the atmosphere. I'm all about atmosphere and this place has it! Dark wood everywhere, genuine naugahide all about. It's totally old school Hollywood. We may not have The Brown Derby anymore, but if that type of eatery is what you desire on your visit to Hollywood, I would definitely stop in at Musso and Frank.

Oh yea, and that martini was great!!

    Thanks for that, Matt!

A couple of weeks ago when we up in LA seeing Wicked, I considered going there for dinner, but we decided instead to go to Wolfgang Puck's Vert at Hollywood and Highland.

I agree that it is somewhat overrated but what history and the experience it is.

Another longtime restaurant from the same era is at the beginning of Sunset Boulevard in downtown LA ... Taix. All you can eat soup served in a turreen at the table and very reasonable prices and the lowest wine prices in all of LA. Also ancient waiters to match those at Musso and Frank's.
