    Napa Rose price range?

Thinking of going there with someone speacial, but concerened about budget. Any estimates on how much a meal (aps, main, dessert) would average per person without alcohol?

I have a reservation next week for the Chef's Counter at Napa, does anyone know what I should expect? Will I be picking from the menu above or will the menu be prechosen for me.

I'm a little confused as to what exactly I have to pick from, if at all.

    Thanks!

To keep costs down, and if the offerings are to your liking, you might consider the vintner's table. It's Prix Fix (set price) for 4 courses. Always been under $50 when I've partaken.

Either way, you're sure to be in for a great meal.

Am I required to take all four? Or is it automatically served? I can't eat that much food! LOL

Summer, you'll be able to eat it all because their portions are the correct size. Most restaurants seem to think that more is better, so they give you a double chicken breast instead of just one, and 4 servings of pasta to fill up a giant plate, etc. At NR, it's about quality, not quantity. You'll be perfectly full when you leave, not stuffed at all.

This is more a place where you want the chef to wow you. It's not a place to eat whatever you choose. It's an experience.
There are tons of places to eat at the DLr.

Good attitude! (Still, go on a somewhat empty stomach.)

I hope you enjoy your whole trip!

I also hear that the chef's counter guests get little extras, cutting off little slices of this and that. So I've heard. (I'm more of an eater, myself, though I am not averse to spending someone else's money for an experience.)

I'm aware of that, which is why I mentioned that this is a special occasion.

The thing is, I'm not a food snob on a daily basis, but I am when it comes to fine dining; I've read Ruth Reichl, MFK Fisher, Jeffrey Steingarten and their ilk, so I'm leery about some so-called fine-dining establishments. I just wanted to check that the prices I would be paying at the NR wouldn't be too much to regret, should it not live up to expectations.

From what I hear, this one is a keeper. I anticipate your review.

I've been to one restaurant in my lifetime that floored me with respect to the food I tasted. And it appears to be closed. It was on Maui.
