Heat Ultra Lounge in Anaheim - Los Angeles Times

Quote:

Owner Mike Joher says he selected the locale for Heat after searching three years in places as far and wide as Hollywood, Las Vegas and San Francisco. "I got used to looking in Vegas, and everything in Vegas is attached," he says. "Big clubs like Pure [at Caesars Palace] and Tao [at the Venetian] are also tenants like I am at GardenWalk."

Joher says he knew he had found a home as soon as he saw signs for the shopping plaza. "During the search I lived in Anaheim Hills, and I used to always drive by and say, 'Why is there no nightclub there?' Anaheim is the heart of O.C. -- Disneyland, Convention Center, Downtown Disney, Honda Center, Angels, Grove. We should've opened two years ago in that area."

His instincts seem to be right on. Despite the club not being visible from the street and with no signage outside the center, by the time the place opens at 10 on this particular Saturday night, there was a bustling crowd jockeying to get in.

The concert times have changed, as I mentioned earlier, due to heat issues, and crowd size.
dude, I'm sorry about the mistakes but as i said earlier my only sources are the website and InsiderAGW. I am not able to access the GardenWalk or resort area due to my location and I really wouldn't have any connections to anyone. I just started this thread to TRY to inform people about the CORRECT openings. But obviously I don't get it right all the time. Sorry about that and thanks for the right news.

Re: Anaheim GardenWalk Progress Thread

OK, went to Anaheim Gardenwalk tonight for dinner.

Bar Louie was open, but just the bar, they hope to start serving food Wednesday, Sept. 24th.

Momotree (Hello Kitty and other Japanese items) was open.

San Sei had the paper off its windows, but still not ready to open, and based on what we could see, is still a few days away from opening.

Sbarro is basically in the same shape, not open, still needs some more stuff installed.

Rami is still a long way from opening.

Mrs. Fields is still an empty shell covered by plywood.

Madison & Co. Jewelry store looks like it won't be ready by the end of the month.

Also, there will be a major Harley-Davidson event Saturday, Sept. 27th from 10 AM to 4 PM.

Re: Anaheim GardenWalk Progress Thread

FYI - The upcoming announcment is progressing and we are still on course with a slight slowing of the markets across the board. Yes, it has been slow in opening the rest of the stores. I want to emphazise some comments about AGW being up for sale. The owners have no plans now or in the future of selling AGW to anyone. We can forsee alot of options with the hotels and timeshares. Both or one could be bought and managed by Disney and the other hotel will be only managed, but the developers will still have owning rights to the property. The timeshares do have a possiblity of being owned by Disney. Now, this information does not come from AGW, but an insider from someone who is preparing some work at Disney on the pumbaa parking structure. The parking lot entrance to Disney on Harbor Blvd will be walled off and enclosed and parking with be re-routed to the pumbaa parking lot for customers. Yesterday, Disney had a helicopter mapping out the area in the pumba parking and AGW most of the day. That's all for now.

NEWS UPDATE:

Hey, sorry there hasn't been much news in a while, but I'm back with some info.

Openings:
-Momotree and Bar Louie Tavern & Grill are both open.
-Sbarro may or may not be open; according to the AGW website, it is open, but this info may be incorrect.
Upcoming:
Sept. 30 - Rami Accessories
Sept. 30 - Johnny Rockets
Sept. 30 - San Sai Japanese Grill
Oct. 15 - Georgiou

Events:
Tomorrow is full of events at the AGW:
You can go enjoy the Harley Davidson Motorcycle Show from 10 am to 4 pm; then, from 4 to 7 pm, you can relax in the Gala Garden and listen to The Chantays as part of the Garden Party Music Series.

Alright, there should be some openings next week. I'd appreciate it if I received some confirmation on the Sbarro opening. Maybe Darkbeer or InsiderAGW has some news? Ok, thanks, see ya later.

Re: Anaheim GardenWalk Progress Thread

cool, so San Sai is now listed as open. And the Harley Davidson Motorcycle Show ended about a half-hour ago, so I'll see what new events are coming to the AGW.

Re: Anaheim GardenWalk Progress Thread

Also, The Haunted Cellar is being held as the Anaheim Gardenwalk this year. I'm not very familiar with this event. Does anyone have some news on it?

Upcoming:
-Oct. 14 - Rami Accessories
-Oct. 15 - La Salsa
-Oct. 31 - Goody's Apparel

Re: Anaheim GardenWalk Progress Thread

NEWS UPDATE:

Hey everyone. I've been busy lately and there hasn't been much news. But I'm back with some info.

Openings:
Oct. 31 - Madison & Co, Johnny Rockets, Tacone Wraps, Goody's Apparel

Sorry Johnny Rockets was listed as open but that was a mistake. Also, Rami Accessories is open.

Some new expected opening dates have been added to the list.

Also, as expected, some venues have decided to leave the GardenWalk.
These include Flame Broiler and Hawaiian Barbecue.

The announcement of a Disney/GardenWalk plan may not occur for a while, if at all. Disney has other news/promotions to handle first and the GardenWalk is still trying to improve business. The announcement may still occur this month; however, the possibility is slim.

Ok, that's all for now. Thanks

Re: Anaheim GardenWalk Progress Thread

I like to clarify some things, some of the venues that you stated that are leaving had never got off the ground for whatever reason the economic times or no funding. We have other interested venues that will be coming on board. The Disney/AGW announcement are two to three weeks out which the hotels construction starting still at the beginning of the year. The timeshares have been pushed back till March 2009.

Re: Anaheim GardenWalk Progress Thread

OK, had a GREAT meal at Bar Louie's tonight (Happy Hour 4 to 7 PM, Monday thru Friday - Buy one Appetizer, get one free, $5 Martinis and $3 pints of draft beer) - Great service, will be going back more than once! (If you are a local, ask about the frequent customer card).

Johnny Rockets is still closed, looks like a week or two from opening.

Sbarro's is open.

Auntie Anne's is closed temporary for remodeling, and has all the windows papered up.

Rami's is open.

La Salsa signage is up, but the windows are blocked, so not sure how much longer it will take.

Tacone Wraps you can peak into, a couple of weeks should be about right.

Haunted Cellar ($9 a person) was open and had "Monsters" walking around the center trying to drum up business.

It was very busy at AGW Friday night from about 6 PM to 8 PM.

What is very busy at Gardenwalk? 100 people in the whole place? Pretty good for a holiday weekend Friday night.
