    Huntington Beach Bon Fire Pits?

Does anyone or has anyone been lately to the Huntington Beach bon fire pits? I was curious how early I should go 2 get a fire pit. Any other info would be appreciated. Thanks.

Depends on the day you're going. Most people that use the fire pits are there for the sunset and hour or two afterwards before the beach closes. I've gone on a weekday at 6 pm (sunset at 8ish) and been able to walk right up and get a pit. They filled up shortly after. On weekends, expect to be there even earlier.

I think the HB fire pits are awful. There's broken glass and burnt objects in the sand, the water is extremely salty and burns your eyes due to the proximity to the Salt Processing Plants. I say go to the Newport Beach pits. If you do decide to go HB then get there around 4 and there might be a few left over pits open. Good luck!

The HB pits are ok, newport is good as well. Get there a few hours early for most days. holidays/weekends fill up in the early afternoon. Sand is very dirty at huntington, take sandals. Parking is around 10 dollars so be prepared for that as well.

Is there a lot of pits in Newport? Should I also go around 5 for them or earlier? Whats the parking rate for Newport? Thanks.

They're actually in Corona del Mar, which is a village within the southern boundary of Newport Beach. The pits could be found near the northern end of Corona del Mar State Beach, known by the locals as "Big Corona".

There are about 20 to 30 pits there. There is free parking on top of the bluff, and there is plenty of it. There is also a pay lot at the bottom of the bluff. I forget how much it costs because I generally park for free up on top.

If you have equipment I advise parking in the pay lot, or driving down to it, dropping off the equipment, and then parking up on the bluff for free.

Right now in the summertime especially reccommend getting to the beach between 8 or 10am. Even for Huntington. You won't be able to find an open pit after that.

    AM or PM?
We have relatives in the area, and they were pretty full up a few weekends ago. I think it was a Friday, actually. They live in HB and were there pretty early. It requires someone sitting there (or a few in shifts) all day.

Hey every1 again. So I planned to have a bonfire which didn't happen but I finally decided to have it next week. Now my problem is how to figure out how to get to the parking lot they have? I've researched and theres ones on Brookhurst or Magnolia but as a newbie that doesn't help me with directions, esp. telling my friends how to get there. Could any one you help me with getting to the best parking lot for my bonfire? Were all coming from Riverside so I know we have to take the 91 and then the 55 and then I get lost there. Thanks

The 55 to Exit 3 (I think), which appears to be some combination of Fairview Road, Newport Blvd., and Victoria Street.
    DO NOT TURN ON FAIRVIEW!
Stay on Newport Blvd (exit ramp merges onto Newport) and take a right on Victoria Street.
About 3.5 miles, Victoria ends and Magnolia Street. Take a left. Parking lot right at the beach, right in front of a number of pits on either side of the entrance. You can choose, after paying for parking, to go up or down the beach (look complicated even from Google maps). once you've chosen a pit, then call your friends to tell them which way to go after paying for parking. Lifeguard station numbers as often used as location guides.

When you get there, ask people who already have a pit how long they will be there. Some leave before sunset (birthday parties for little kids, for example), and most are happy to tell you when they will leave.

    Good luck!
