Well, let's all go back to that awesome 30/10 map and don't forget to click and zoom in on it so you can see all the ways the interchanging light rail lines will work !

It's quite exciting if you know what you're looking at.

Bah. Just make the bike lanes.
Everyone who's lived in The Valley knows that the "off streets" (major streets without freeway interchanges for The 101 and The 118) are the least traveled, thus best for bicycles.

(What is a "sharrow"? Comes up a few times as if everyone reading knows what means.)

Joe Linton, who also sits on the city's Bicycle Advisory Committee, said projects like sharrows and bike lanes are a chance to engage the community.

Seems like "Sharrows" are large notices in street lanes that both guide a cyclist from one bike-lane stretch to the next, and warn motorists that more than an average number of cyclists will be on this particular stretch of road.

Santa Monica Announces Sharrows, New Bike Lane and More - LAist?
Santa Monica this week announced the arrival of its first-ever street with sharrows. Installed as part of regularly scheduled street maintenance on 14th Street at Montana, the lane markings are anticipated to connect riders from the Montana Avenue bike lane to a bike lane planned for 14th Street two blocks away, south of Washington.
Not sure if this was ever posted:

It is a user-submitted map of thefts, accidents, road hazards, etc., involving bicyclists.
Pretty slow to zoom in on, but pretty interesting.

    Looks good.
I have another way of getting to a Kings game, eventually. More importantly, USC games will not require $20 parking fee. (Not that I've gone to one in over 20 years.)

Well, it would depend on where I happen to be. If I happen to be on the westside prior to a game, then I could drive to the Phase I end at Robertson and take the train. It will provide more options. I could actually PLAN to be on the Westside prior to the game.

For USC games, I could take The Red to The Expo.

Re: Mass Transit 2 the Disneyland Resort

As lawmakers worked late into the night Monday, the second to last day of the 2009-10 legislative session, Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger took some action of his own, signing into law a measure expanding the list of environmentally friendly cars that qualify for permits to use carpool lanes.
The measure will allow up to 40,000 more California motorists to drive solo in the special lanes. It also extends the lifespan of existing permits for hybrid and electric vehicles. The bill, SB 535 by Sen. Leland Yee (D-San Francisco) and sponsored by General Motors, would provide thousands of permits for new models of fuel-efficient cars, including G.M.'s Chevrolet Volt, due out later this year, as well as the new Toyota Prius and Nissan Leaf.

The measure, which now includes plug-in hybrids and hydrogen fuel cell cars, was opposed by some lawmakers who say carpool lanes are getting too congested because of all the special permits for solo drivers. But Yee said his bill was needed because new cars are being built with technology that was not available when the state began permitting fuel-efficient cars to use carpool lanes.

As work crews hit the home stretch on finishing the first phase of the Expo Line between downtown Los Angeles and Culver City, one politician is calling for more accountability. Unlike many Metro projects, the Expo Line is currently under the control of the Exposition Metro Line Construction Authority and doesn't have any objective and critical oversight.

Proof That Train to LAX May Happen In Your Lifetime

A transit center at Aviation and Century boulevards, which would be central to getting the Green Line--and the under-study Crenshaw line--to LAX, received a $1.45 million federal grant, reports The Daily Breeze. That money, along with a 20 percent match of $290,000, will go towards the preliminary engineering phase of the South Bay transit center that starts this fall--the transit center will be built as part of the $1.7 billion Crenshaw Line which is scheduled to be constructed between 2012 and 2018, according to the newspaper. The idea is the station would serve as a hub for the Green and Crenshaw lines, connecting people to buses and the planned people mover that will bring fliers to the terminals of the airport. "The grant is great news for the South Bay, which is finally on its way to being connected by rail to LAX," U.S. representative Jane Harman...
