Except that Metro decided not to put a Crenshaw stop on the Purple line, and the Crenshaw Corridor line is not planned to continue on Crenshaw Blvd past the Expo line, if/when it gets extended to the North.

The locals around Crenshaw Blvd and Wilshire Blvds fought successfully to keep a station from opening in their neighborhood, even though a subway will run underneath them. And they don't want the Crenshaw Corridor line extended up there anyways.

Your idea makes sense if you're looking at a map, but the facts on the ground are such that the intersection of the Crenshaw Corridor line and Purple Line will likely be further to the west of Crenshaw Blvd., perhaps La Brea.

The Crenshaw Line's stop at Aviation and Century (near the old XXX honky-tonk) gets the train a mile closer than the Green Line does, but that's still a mile from the terminals.

There's a proposed people mover at Aviation/Central that would get people to terminals and a future centralized rental car facility--but LAX has yet to start a formal environmental impact study on it. The LAX modernization plan has eight mentions of a people mover, but it's quite confusing as to how it will actually work (it says something about it being underground, something about moving walkways at the Green Line station--will the people mover connect LAX to the Green Line airport station and the Crenshaw airport station?).

I know this is neither in the Los Angeles area, nor in Disneyland area, but it is in So. California and it is transit related...

Down here in San Diego our trolley (light rail) system is getting a major makeover and overhaul, some 600 million will be spent over the next few years. Stations will be remodeled and platforms raised so they can accept new low floor trolleys, new rail road track and ties, replacing overhead wires etc.

We are essentially getting brand new everything on much of the system.

Our trolley system turns 30 in 2011 and much of the equipment is still original and some sections of track is even older.

The "Subway to the Sea" will be the "Subway to the V.A." plus "Downtown Connector" will go underground.

[Mayor Villaraigosa says] "That line has the potential to be one of the highest ridership lines of any line after the [Westside] subway. I think the folks doing the analysis will show that out. We'll deal with that when we get to it."

One idea we've heard in the past from congressional sources is that there is a desire to make it a rapid bus system of sorts. Others hope it's a train with a tunnel "under the hill."

Next time they have to "expand" The 405, they should simply dig a ditch down the middle, and put in a subway line from the VA to The Orange Line stop at Sepulveda.
