Smile If you had two young Children (7 and 10), would you go to Universal or Knotts?

If you had two young Children (7 and 10), would you go to Universal or Knotts?

We are looking at all the attractions but its hard as we have never been to either place.

Also, we are staying at the Hojos across from Disney. What are the travel times from there to Knotts and Universal by car?

OR... I have my car with us, but is it better to take transit?

Both parks are just up the 5 freeway from Hojos, Knott's is about 10-15 minutes and Universal is about 40-60 minutes up. I'd take them to Knott's, I think it's better with kids plus they have kid's rides there where as Universal only has thrill-ish rides. Plus Universal is a half day park at best, you can get everything done in less than 4 hours including all the shows and rides and tram tour which takes about an hour and most of the rides are Orlando clones with slight differences. Knott's you can stay a whole day and it's closer. Plus I do think the themeing is much better than Universals.

Well I must say that its more fun a Disney then the other 2, Disney hides their backstage areas really well. Plus theme is 100% on at DLR, but its really bad at Knotts, and their robotic figures on rides are pathetic compared to AAs at DLR

THANKS! That is awsome information! Just the ride distance is a put off for me. When you are a tourist... your time is the most valuable thing you have. I don;t want to spend it in the car.

Whats your favorite part of Knotts?

Probably ghost town because it has alot of interactive experiances, similar to Main Street but set to the old west, like they have a Black Smith, Mining for Gold (Is that still there?), you can take a picture in the old west.

The AA's aren't great but that's not exactly why people go to theme parks.

If it's for your kid's then do go to Knott's I was disappointed with Universal when I went my first time. I think you and your kid's would be as well. It's only slowly grown on my since my interested in theme parks has grown.

If your kids like thrill rides than go for Knotts. If your 7 year old doesn't like thrill rides that's ok because Camp Snoopy especially has lots of kid rides that he or she would like. The problem is with your 10 year old. If he or she doesn't like roller coasters then there is a bit of a problem because he or she will also be to big to want to ride the Camp Snoopy rides. This is the "problem" with my son at the moment. When we go to knotts there is little that we do. We just basically ride the log ride and the Calico Mine Ride over and over again.

I think USH is a better place to go if you have never been there before. Someone mentioned the rides at Universal. They are correct. But USH is all about the tram tour. If that's the only thing you do, you get your moneys worth, IMO. It really is amazing that you get to see the actual backlots of many of the TV shows and movies that you and your kids are familiar with. Every time I go I am amazed just by the tram tour alone.

Just to cause you more confusion, you could drive about an hour the other direction (towards San Diego) and go to Legoland.

In my opinion, if you are able to ignore the roller coasters, Knott's Ghost Town is even better themed than Frontierland.

That is true! Legoland and SeaWorld are both about an hour down the 5 (in the opposite direction as Knott's and Universal) can I change my option to Legoland that place has big rides but are not too big so that kid's and adults can ride them and enjoy them. Also buy your kid's a bunch of lego sets because what's not better than Legos?

I didn't enjoy taking my child to Knotts (she diod not enjoy it either), She liked universal better when she was a child. She is now an adult and has an annual pass to universal and disney, but has no desire to go back to knotts.

TY for clarifying, but I understood the original question. I tried to be more precise in my reply this time.....seriously if your child id not enjoying something then you won't either, but I guess I was not clear about that.
