    Beijing 2008 Olympic Games

Discuss the 2008 Summer Olympics here.

    Getting closer to games time.
Who's going to watch and who is boycotting? Have your face masks ready to cut out the pollution?

As suggested by Earkid in post #30 on page 2:

Before the big event begins this weekend I would like to suggest some ground rules regarding posting event results. I'm the kind of person who doesn't like to know a thing until I watch the events in the evening. So I would like to suggest that all results get posted within spoiler tags on the day they occur. Then any future discussions can occur without spoiler tags.
I'm interesed to see what the Chinese will put on for the opening ceremonies, and am also interested in seeing London's segment in the closing ceremonies.

    Yes I'm watching.

    Boycotts are stupid.

    The end.

    Re: Beijing 2008 Olympic Games

With all the commercialization and over-politicization, if that's a word, I don't feel that the Olympics have the same relevance they once did.

And I definitely have issues on many levels with the games being played in Beijing.

And I have issues with a guy named Chris Kaman, an American citzen and well-paid member of the NBA Clippers, trying out and making the German team after he couldn't make the U-S squad.

But to answer the question, yes I will watch at least some - but with the baseball pennant races and sunny summer days outside - not near as much as before.

    I cannot WAIT!!!!
    Good morning, son
    In twenty years from now
Maybe we'll both sit down and have a few beers
And I can tell you 'bout today
And how I picked you up and everything changed
    It was pain
    Sunny days and rain
I knew you'd feel the same things...

We have cleaned the DVR out so I can record as much as I want. I love watching the Olympics. Anyone who calls me Friday night will be verbally assaulted for messing with me watching the opening.

I'm ready to watch Team USA reclaim the gold in basketball!!!
Three-time MVP Larry Bird, noting that Bryant has been the NBA's premier player for years, told Sports Illustrated's Dan Patrick before this week's announcement, "When someone told me the other day that Kobe hadn't won an MVP trophy, it sort of made me feel like I wanted to throw mine away."

So in essence, your box is clean. Is that what I'm getting?

Is anyone else going to watch the DirecTV programming? They will be having special dedicated channels beginning Friday. "Just press the red button to pull up the menu". Woo Hoo!

I won't be watching. For some reason the olympics are kinda boring. Besides I have to sleep early because of my work schedule.

And Im kinda supporting the protesters.
