I agree the Yankees are indeed stupid. The 1-8 record is kind of irrelevant now though since the Yanks are opening that new bazillion dollar stadium next year.
One thing that is relevant is everytime he pitched in Yankee stadium he faced the Yankees. In addition, the Yankees for years have always cleaned up on the Indians. Yes the Yankees paid too much but I wouldn't use the fact that he's 1-8 in Yankee stadium as a knock against him.
Good call Barry, and your right. Maybe that was the sticking point with the Dodgers. I knew the Dodgers wouldn't sign him for 7 years after the whole Kevin Brown thing. I knew it was a bad deal way back then.
I didn't really care about having Sabathia one way or the other. He would have been a "nice to have" but would I have taken CC over Manny or the re-signing of Casey Blake or in excange for any of the young rising stars the Dodgers have right now??? Not for a second.
I wonder if/when the Yankees will ask for a bail-out with all this spending
Three-time MVP Larry Bird, noting that Bryant has been the NBA's premier player for years, told Sports Illustrated's Dan Patrick before this week's announcement, "When someone told me the other day that Kobe hadn't won an MVP trophy, it sort of made me feel like I wanted to throw mine away."
