    Re: Baseball 2009

At last, it's Opening Day (unless you're a Phillie or a Brave fan).

Is there anything greater in sports? Is there ever a day more open with possibilities and promise? Everyone starts out even, every fan has hope, and all, just as nature in spring, is new again.

Whoever you root for, I hope they do well. Oh to be in Fenway on Opening Day, wolfing down Fenway Franks!

Baseball if finally back! Welcome back to all my baseball friends here at MiceChat!

I'll have to wait another day for KC's Opening Day as today's game was postponed due to snow in Chicago.

Oh the joy of an opening day win! The Angels first opening day shutout since 1979! What a great time we had.

I was kind of nervous with today's game, with the Angels facing a "new and improved" A's. I was very pleasantly surprised with the end result though. It left me feeling a lot more positive to a new season!

I can't really watch very many of my teams games. They are on the east coast and the stations out here only show local teams. However, i do get the ending scores sent to my phone every time they play.

What an active Opening Day. Some legit aces get hammered, home runs galore, Mark Teixeira getting booed in is hometown, and welcome back to Seattle Griffey.

It was great to see Seattle win. Griffey getting a home run was terrific too.

The Cubs, Carlos Zambrano was finally successful pitching on Opening Day. Alfonso Soriano also started the game off with a lead off home run. He thanked the team for letting him lead off. It's a very controversial subject among Cubs fans.

And especially sweet since it was against the A's!

Mets had an Opening Day win too! It was a good game (and no flop from the bullpen). The only bad thing was the amount of runners left on base.

    Re: Baseball 2009

My Rays lost today, but they kept it a relatively close game thanks to Longoria's 2 RBI hit. Shields needs to settle down a bit, but he's usually dogmeat at Fenway.

Hopefully we'll get the BoSox tomorrow with Kazmir on the mound.

Tigers got their collective rear ends handed to them last night losing 12-5 to Toronto. But what got me was the fans at the Rogers Centre. They were throwing paper airplanes, golf balls, baseballs and batteries at the Tigers outfielders. WTF? Really... batteries? I can kind of see doing that if your team is behind but when you're ahead 12-5?! That's BS and totally immature. The umpires had the team leave the field for 9 minutes while the PA system told people to stop throwing s**t or they'd get their butts arrested. Man I knew Blue Jays fans were obnoxious but that's just nuts.

That's just sad. What is wrong with people nowadays?

    Re: Baseball 2009

It was good Opening Day for my Royals for 7 1/2 innings. Gil Meche pitched a heck of a game. 7 innings 6 Ks and only 1 ER against the ChiSox.

Kyle Farnsworth comes in the 8th and allows a 3-run shot to Jim Thome to ultimately win the game 4-2. All of Meche's great work undone.
