It looks like an interesting field this year for the Kentucky Derby - five horses are going to go at 10-1 or better, and there are at least a dozen who have a legitimate chance to win. I dropped a few bucks on Pioneer of the Nile. Friesan Fire is the favorite. I like Dunkirk, too.
WOW! Mine That Bird ran away with it by 6 3/4. The odds were 60/1 last night, I think they said the closing odds were 50/1. Friesan Fire finished 18th, some 42 length back. A $9,500 horse won the Derby! Wow. I can't remember a longshot this long winning the Derby. The horse trained by the dude on the crutches. And he was WAY back, dead last, entering the stretch. Awesome.
Pioneer of the Nile placed, so I made $156 on my $140 bets to win, place and show ($100/$20/$20).
