Haven't you ever seen Angels in the Outfield? God doesn't intervene in playoff games.

Besides if you ask Jerry Jones, the only team God watches is the Cowboys.

I hope God doesn't hit the scoreboard when he punts.

FOX writes baseball a very big check, and in return baseball offers its soul and its scheduling.

And especially if the Yankees are involved, FOX gets east coast prime time when it wants, and the National League and TBS can scramble for the left-overs.

It's not hard to understand. And it's hardly anything new.

PS...A playoff game involving the Yankees on the mainstream FOX network might very well attract more viewers on a Monday night than "cable" ESPN could for MNF.

Hery gang. I'm working Dodgers radio in Ventura for the remainder of their games...just a reminder that Vin Scully is working six innings (1-3, 7-9) on radio. 790 KABC in Los Angeles if you didn't know, AM 1450 in the Ventura County area (my station). Unfortunately if you want it online you have to go through MLB's pay package (we do have some good oldies streaming online during the game).

Re: It's Playoff Time! The 2009 Official Baseball Post-Season Thread

The Dodgers gave seven walks to the Phillies, and were something like 3-for-14 with men in scoring position.

Not the best way to play it in a National League Championship Series opener.

But it's just one game, and a very entertaining game it was. I still think the Dodgers will win it, in six or seven.

One could second-guess Joe Torre on why he left a clearly struggling Kershaw in to face Ryan Howard in the 5th when the lefty Elbert was ready.

But, not long to wait for tomorrow's game...1PM start.

Looks like all is right with Brad Lidge. He's looked like the Brad Lidge of 08. 3 for 3 in save opportunities this postseason

Re: It's Playoff Time! The 2009 Official Baseball Post-Season Thread

I only got to hear the game, of course. Too bad my radio station can't fork over a few bucks for TV monitors, or make an advertiser deal with Best Buy or whatever, but that's another story...

I have my own "premium" mlb subscription, so at least I can see video highlights as they come up on the "gameday" internet screen I have...

Anyway, I thought it was a very tense and exciting game throughout.

With a sunny, warm day at Dodger Stadium, the balls will be carrying...it's never easy to predict such things, but a high-scoring game should be in the offing today.

It should be very interesting to see how Pedro Martinez does, and if Padilla can continue what he's done. This is clearly a more important game for the Dodgers, it seems to me.

And I'll be back at my radio perch, come about noon.

Any Dodger radio listeners have thoughts about the differences in style between Scully and Steiner? Steiner seems to want to jump out of the booth for every fly ball. I like Charley overall and his emotion, but Vin keeps things in perspective so much better.

I don't know who TBS has working for the series, but I'm assuming that even though it's a bit of a hassle, turning down the sound and turning on Vin is a better deal.

I'll check back later with thoughts about Yankees-Angels among other things.

    DODGERS WIN!!!

Wow, what a crazy 8th inning!
Padilla and Martinez locked in a pitchers duel..who wouldve ever thought that would happen??
    Great game, great ending
Series heads to Philly tied 1-1

I like Charley's enthusiasm, but I do agree that he kinda goes over the top with fly balls to the warning track. Charley's a great guy though, I've met him a few times and he's always friendly and takes time to chat with fans

Martinez pitched like the Pedro of ten years ago. I had a feeling if the Dodgers could get him out, they might have a chance. Not that they slugged their way to victory.

Going to Philly, bad weather, Cliff Lee...they needed this win.

For the second straight game, Utley makes a huge throwing error.

Theory: day games after night games are lower scoring affairs, due to pitchers' rest versus hitters' not-rest.
    Time to go research....
