Disappointing finish. Gotta win those home games now.

For you maybe, but what a game. It's a whole new Alex... An Alex 2.0 if you will (for you Big Bang fans out there).

Alex has been most impressive to me. For a guy that did nothing is his playoff career he is proving to be a star that's carrying the team and getting the big hits. It's incredible that the horrible play in the field didn't hurt the Yankees. Now if only Vlad could drink from ARod's cup of confidence, he's still an October bust.

Re: It's Playoff Time! The 2009 Official Baseball Post-Season Thread

The Angels made the big mistakes at the worst possible times, but give the Yankees credit for taking advantage.

What Maicer Izturis was thinking with that play in the 13th, I'll never know. Throwing a wet baseball, to a base where he had little or no chance of success...

Brian Fuentes will never be confused with Mariano Rivera. But before too many Angel fans start pining for the good old days of "K-Rod", may I remind you of the game-losing homer he gave up in last year's playoffs.

I, for one, in seasons to come will not miss Vlad Guerrero and his swing at anything from his hairline to his toenails approach, especially in key situations in the post-season. How many chances did he have to put the Angels comfortably ahead tonight? How many clutch hits in his post-season career? At last count, ONE.

And I hope the horse he rides out on, has enough room for Gary Matthews, Jr.

Kudos to Burnett, Saunders, and just about every other pitcher in this 5-hour plus gem, played under trying conditions at best.

One of the best games I've seen in a long time, regardless of outcome.

Oh yeah, it hurts. Big time.

But anyione counting the Angels out at this point, is foolish.

The Angels were so close too. Oh, well lets hope the Angels can win all three home games.

Well, I think the Dodgers knew they were in trouble when they had Billingsly up in the pen in the first inning. But 11-0? Wow.

Let's just say the Hiroki Kuroda experiment, blew up in Joe Torre's face.

But if I had to choose a way to lose (as in easier to bounce back from) I've always heard players say that it would be this kind of game...

    Not the game last night.

Who knows? The way Cliff Lee pitched, one run might have been enough for the Phillies.

Cliff Lee has panned out to be the best trade for any team this season.

About Kuroda...Torre just said that he looked good in the bullpen, and looked good before the game....during the game, "the ball just didn't behave"....

That's a funny way of putting it, Mr. Bigelow Tea-master.

Pitching Kuroda was not "the right thing to do", obviously.

Must wins for both local teams, the Angels especially, tomorrow.

The ball didn't behave...LOL! Looks like the Phils gave the misbehaving ball a good whoopin'.

And yet, Kuroda could have given up only one run and we still would have lost.

Also, Torre's other option was Billingsley, and I doubt we would have won with him on the mound either.

I do have faith in Wolf tomorrow. He has a lot of experience pitching on that Phillies mound and has been solid for us, with the exception of his last outing. If we can swing the bats well, (or at least better,) I think we can get their starter out of the game early and then all bets are off.

That was poor judgement. His only real chance was first base. Worst case scenario the Yankees wouldve had 2nd and 3rd but with TWO outs. Angels mightve got out of the inning. Oh well..Must win for Anaheim today. I agree Barry, anybody who thinks the series is over, is foolish.

As for the Dodgers, I had doubts to Kuroda starting yesterday but I wanted to believe Torre was right about him being ready. BIG mistake. He had no business on that mound. And i have to laugh at Ryan Howard's comments after the game saying that the reason they smacked around Kuroda last night (after struggling against him in 4 previous outings)was because they "made adjustments". Really Ryan? It wasnt because the guy you were facing had been off for almost 3 weeks and obviously had ZERO command?
