I'd say that Vlad's homer in the sixth got them going, so that was a pretty big hit there. True, he couldn't come through in that gut-wrenching tenth.

Anyway the overview is that they were down 3-0, facing Pettite and all those horses in the bullpen. They overcame that deficit, took the lead, lost it again, and still found a way to win.

I give credit to "Mickey mojo" and my lucky Angel shirt I wore today.

I don't know if that's 100% true. If it's Dodgers/Angels (as a LOT of us are hoping for) I think it could be a very tight series. But I have a feeling the Yankees would take it to either NL team for some reason.

Then again, nobody gave the Dodgers a chance in 1988.

You never know what can happen in the World Series. Teams have won recently that nobody thought would. Granted, almost everyone is afraid of the "big bad Yankees", but baseball has surprised us many times over the years.

4 pitch walk ... hit batter ... double ... I think I'm gonna be sick.

Instead of having a nice tied series, Phillies are not on the verge of beating us again.

Was that Brad Lidge pitching for the Dodgers tonight? And guess what...they get two days to think about this one. And indeed the now are on the verge.

I was within one out of being guaranteed work for a six-game series...so I echo the sentiment...

Ironically, Brad Lidge got the win.

Wow. Really close and exciting games even though I haven't always been pleased by the outcome. This round has been amazing.

I guess we're not allowed to have two games in one day any more. Angels tomorrow night, Dodgers Wednesday...maybe the Dodgers can do some sightseeing tomorrow, you know, the Liberty Bell, the big crack in their championship dreams...maybe they can go look at the "Rocky" statue on the steps of the Philly library, with Joe Torre playing the Burgess Meredith part...

Dodgers have not been playing baseball... I am sad. Yogurtland does not help.

Re: It's Playoff Time! The 2009 Official Baseball Post-Season Thread

Baseball is a game of 27 outs. Not 26, 27. Dodger fans, your team lucked out when Matt Holliday dropped the final out in the Cardinals series.

And it should be pointed out that without a bases loaded walk and a throwing error, the Dodgers would be flying home today, making tee time reservations on their PDAs.

Having said that, they have Padilla against a shaky Cole Hamels tomorrow night. They win that, come back home, and Cliff Lee or no Cliff Lee, who knows what might happen.

Baseball's a game of 27 outs. The series is 4 wins and 27 outs.

On another topic...so many managers manage a game to death these days.

Joe Girardi is just another example of a pet peeve.

In the 11th inning, Robertson gets the first two outs with ease.

Why not leave him in to finish the inning?

But no Girardi goes to those precious stats...

I'm glad how it turned out, but managing by that precious book drives me nuts sometimes.
