I just hope the Dodgers can finish it out on Saturday.
Cardinals' fans are calling for Holliday's head, but I agree. The light sky or the stadium lights had to make that a tough play. Also, Franklin had 2 more chances to get the third out.

Good start for the Halos! 5-0 win over the Sox. I'm happy that Torii Hunter had a big game tonight. The Royals lost out on signing him back in 08. Glad he chose the Angels and having success in the postseason.

Just heard on SportsCenter Cardinals' Adam Wainwright blame the white towels for Holliday's error. "Why white towels? Why not Dodger blue towels?"

Adam, I think you are a stud and obvious choice for NL Cy Young, but come on.

Agree, pretty bush league complaint. I'm not sure how he was able to record 26 outs before the towels were a factor.

I really want to see Dodgers vs. Angels at the World Series, but we all know that won't happen. So I'm going with Yankees vs. Dodgers.

Seeing Joe Torre back in the Bronx would be worth the price of admission right there.

I don't know. After watching yesterday's game if both the Angels and Boston continue to play the way they did yesterday the Angels are destined to go to the next round.

And one thing I'd like to mention about Guererro -- lighten up! He looked so nervous last night. And with the bases loaded all we needed was a hit. I could see it in his face. If he just relaxed it might have made a huge difference.

It may not have been an error, but it was a play that had to be made.

Yes, it would have been a tough catch, with looking into the crowd, the lights, and the still light 6PM hour sky.

But if he were a receiver in football, they'd be saying...that's a play you've just got to make.

Having said all that, I feel sorry for Matt Holliday.

Wainwright's excuse was very lame. I think he was just trying to show some love for a teammate.

As for the Angels, of course it was a very nice win.

Finally, John Lackey pitched in a playoff game like he was going to win even if his team didn't score any runs.

I guess Terry Francona had a bad experience at Del Taco, based on his postgame comments...sorry, Terry, no Dunkin' Donuts out here, either...

Re: It's Playoff Time! The 2009 Official Baseball Post-Season Thread

Well, the umpire screwed the pooch at the Sox-Angels game on that call, but one can argue that turnabout is fair play, given what happened in Boston. Still, though, one would expect a better job in the playoffs than what we got.

The big question tonight, of course, is how many home runs Beckett will surrender. I figure at least three or four...sigh.

I agree Wainright's comment was weak. EVERY stadium does that. Tell me that Busch stadium (or is it Lego Stadium now) won't have fans with white shirts and white towels everywhere.

I just felt the Cardinals were somehow trying to take the win away from the Dodgers. Uhm, you had 2 more chances to get the out and the Dodgers got the clutch hit and beat you. 'Nuff said.

Francona, how can you have a BAD experience at Del Taco??? Great game for the Angels last night. Hopefully they can get another win tonight.

Hmm..I wonder if Wainwright has forgotten about these:
St Louis Cardinals World Series Rally Towel

A poster on Dodger Thoughts pointed out that the fans in St Louis were waving these around during the Cards victory in the 06 series.

And talk about publishing too early:

Oops!! Credit again to Dodger Thoughts

The wild card should get just one home game. I say make it 2-1-2 for the division winner in terms of home games. That way, if the wild card doesn't take back home field advantage just by winning game one on the road. Alternatively, start the series at the wild card for game 1 and then have all
the rest at the division winner.
I'd go for that.

I'd go with that as well.
