I think most of us Dodger Fan's are dreaming of a World Series with Yankees. Most people here in Los Angeles want the Freeway Series. Most true Dodger Fans know the Dodgers and Yankees have meet 11 times in the WS. Out of that 11 the Dodgers have only won 3. This is like the Lakers and the Celtics. All that History goes back to 1941 and remember that was the Year Jumping Joe went on his 52 game hitting streak. In 1981 the last time they faced each other the Dodgers had the last win. I cannot forget the 70's and the 2 WS losses to the Yankees. Nothing would give me greater pleasure than for Joe Torre to outmanage Joe Girardi and win the World Series! That would definitely be "thumbing ones nose" at the Steinbrenners.
While I'd like to see the Dodgers do well for personal financial reasons, beyond that I really couldn't care less about them. I'd love to see a Freeway Series, but if it came right down to it I'd take Angels-Rockies just so long as the Angels were in it.

But I am getting way, way ahead of myself.

Overall, the American League is tougher and has more good teams in it. I'll believe the Red Sox are dead when I see the Angels driving that last stake through the heart, not before. And even if/when they do that, there will be another huge mountain to climb before they can even think about anything else.

With the Angels on the verge of beating the Red Sox for the first time, ever, in the post-season, the Red Sox are pulling out all the stops.

Including having the man most instrumental in stopping them from closing it out the last time they were in position to do so, involved in today's game.

I see that Dave Henderson will be throwing out the first pitch today.

It will be 23 years ago tomorrow, but the pain is still pretty fresh.

OFF TOPIC -

I am picking the Niners in today's football pool.

Lucky for you, Gregg, I've been actually getting some right lately.

And with the pool in mind, there is one New England team I am rooting for today.

The PATRIOTS.

Should be a rather interesting, and cold, day and night in Denver.

Good luck to the Twins today as well.

Well, just looked at the schedule and my 49ers are NOT on today.

I could have sworn I saw a commercial last week that the 49ers/Falcons were the 1:00pm FOX game. Instead they have nothing.

Looks like our only choice for 1:00 sports today is the Patriots/Broncos since we have no Dodger game to watch.

Your worries are founded for sure. Angels are down 3-1 and Lowell just hit a single off the green monster. It's just a single but so far the sox are really hitting the ball. Ok. Now it's 5-1.

Is it me or is Fenway Park just a glorified Little League field?

Fenway park is what makes baseball great. Do you miss the cookie cutter stadium days when the football team played at everyone's baseball field and they all had the exact same dimensions? I've been to Fenway, it oozes baseball.

Uh, please don't take it personally, but it's you. Fenway Park is a great place to see a baseball game, and watching this one, on HD, during the day, brings back so many fond memories of taking that early Saturday morning train to Back Bay station so I could sit in the bleachers (75 cents) and watch a game...over 40 years ago...

Ok. So I was being overly dramatic. I guess it was either that or throwing a shoe at the tv set. Sorry if I offended anyone.

Re: It's Playoff Time! The 2009 Official Baseball Post-Season Thread

How unbelievably, unexpectedly, joyous, "justice poetic:".

On a day when Dave Henderson throws out the first pitch, mimics that "skip-jump" from 86 and points to the Angels dugout...

Two outs, two strikes, top of the ninth...

That is how the Angels finally, after all these years, get the Red Sox playoff gorilla off of their backs.

And with Vlad Guerrero, of all people, FINALLY getting a clutch hit in a post-season game.

The stunned silence of a home crowd, a la Anaheim 23 years ago tomorrow.

Delicious. Just frickin' unbelievably delicious.

There's still a lot of work to do, but for today, I am floating.

Angels and Dodgers have completed the BIG first step into the Freeway Series. Only 4 more wins for each and SoCal will be celebrating!!!

Whoo-Hooo , Angels in three!

Mikey's boys finally got over the Boston post season thing and took it to them. Do you think Vlad has finally woke up from his Sept. hibernation? It was a great three game series, damn good baseball.

Here's to a sweep of the Yankee next weekend.

C'mon, do you really think the Twins have it in 'em do go three in a row? Although I would favor them as my baseball Gods forever if they could.

Great job guys, and good luck.
