Cool World Cup 2010 (merged threads)

Just three months away! Use this thread to discuss the teams, matches and your predictions.

I was hoping to actually go, found a great deal on a flat but it was the airfare that killed me And I work for an airline! Cheapest non-standby airfare tickets I could find was over $4,000! Guess I'll have to save up for Brazil 2014....

I'll be rooting for England & USA.

I can't wait! Last time some friends & I would watch matches at various English/Scottish/Irish pubs around the Bay area. It was a blast chowing down on pub grub, having a few pints and really being a great atmosphere.

Um, I think you're going to have small conflict....

This does remind me that I need to upgrade to HD before then.

Meh. Most games are scheduled (here on the West Coast) to be finished before Noon.
I should be able to watch what I need to and still get to work. Lucky my job does not require heavy equipment.

Two USA games start at 7 and the one that starts at 11:30 is on a Saturday.

Yea, just curious as to what they will do when it's the USA v England?

^^ My brain will probably implode during the England vs USA match. I should know better... I can't watch the Rays and Tigers play against each other anymore because I root for both teams. Last year I got many strange looks when I showed up at a game at Tropicana Field wearing a Rays jersey and a Tigers cap.

Gotta watch Argentina. With Messi and Maradona, cuold prove to provide the punch to keep them competitive. You see Messi's 4 goals against Arsenal the other day in Champions cup? Playing Real Madrid this weekend, let;s watch and see if he can recreate some of that magic, ya think?

I'll try to watch as many as I can. There is one on every morning at 6 (PDT). That should be easy to do for me. Clearing my schedule for the three USA games. The rest will be on availability.
Once the USA is out, though, I might watch only the Semi's and Final. I don't always watch soccer, but when I do, I prefer really good soccer. And those games will feature the best as determined by this tournament format.

I know. That's going to be a touch one to watch. A friend of mine is a dual British/US citizen, so that match is going to be tough on her too (we joke our brains might implode before the match is over).

    Re: World Cup 2010

Any predictions on who the final two teams will play for the cup?

I'm going with the most logic..which is Brazil as far as the other team..I'm stuck between England and Germany..but..I can't rule out Spain either.

    Any other predications?

I think I might root for the Netherlands too seeing I'm like half Dutch (on my dad's side).
