2011 World Series: Texas Rangers vs. St. Louis Cardinals

The stage is set for baseball's biggest event! This is Texas' second-consecutive WS appearace, while St. Louis is making their third appearance in the last 7 years. Both teams are evenly matched. Both have strong lineups and excellent bullpens. Both teams' starting pitching did struggle in their respective league championships though. I'll root for the Rangers. I tend to almost always root for the AL team, but St. Louis is a cross-state rival to Royals fans, so...

Who do you got? Let's discuss!

I don't really care either way. I like a lot of the players on the Cardinals, but TX has never won ... so I'll go with them.

I don't particularly care about the World Series this year. I guess I should root against the Cardinals since they are a big rival to the Chicago Cubs. Not quite sure if I'll watch or not. I guess if nothing else in on, I might tune in.

Add this one to the Tim McCarver list.

When talking about Marc Rzepczynski getting the final out:

Joe Buck: The man they call 'Scrabble' because of all the letters in his last name, gets out of it with a strikeout.

    McCarver: a 5-letter word...'strike'

One game down, only 3 more to win for Cardinals. If the Cardinals win Game 2 and just one game on the road it'll get interesting seeing how they would then play the last two games at home. But we'll see how everything plays out. I want the Cardinals to win but I'm not against the Rangers winning since they've never won a World Series before.

Sadly a lot of people are missing out and not watching the WS.

People complain and complain that they are sick of seeing the Yankees or Phillies in the WS but then don't watch when those teams aren't involved.

You can't have it both way folks.

Wasn't that just classic? My son and I looked at each other with a "whaaa?" look on both our faces. What did Don Henley say in his song "dirty Laundry", "I just have to look good, I don't have to be clear" lol

There was so much talk the other day about Pujols' "error" costing that go-ahead run. Do you really think it was his fault, or did giving up two long fly balls by the subsequent pitching have a little more to do with that? Runners on second and third, ground balls guys, induce ground balls! All in all though, GO TEXAS!!!

This is what we live for all season long, to see two great teams battle it out for the title. No runaway games, not yet at least, quality baseball all around, LOVE it!

Re: 2011 World Series: Texas Rangers vs. St. Louis Cardinals

Texas takes the series lead, 3-2 with another nail biter in game 5. Tied 2-2 in the 8th and Mike Napoli breaks it open with a 2-run double. He also threw out Allen Craig twice trying to steal 2nd. Don't exactly know what Craig/LaRussa were thinking, but both those times he was thrown out, was with Pujols at the plate.

Series back to St. Louis. Lewis vs. Garcia in game 6!

Aside from Game 3, this has been nothing but great games. I find myself rooting for Texas. I like to see good things happen to good people, and I think Mike Napoli is a good guy, and the Angels should have hung onto him. He has had a great Series, particularly tonight.

Re: 2011 World Series: Texas Rangers vs. St. Louis Cardinals

One of the best Game Sixes in Baseball history. Down to their final out twice, the Cardinals come back and win 10-9 in 11 innings. David Freese is the hero with the game-tying triple in the 9th, and game winning HR. Heartbreaker for the Rangers.

We are going to a 7! Should be a great one! Baseball's champion will be crowned tommorow night!

For those that elected not to watch the World Series this year, you've truly missed one of the best in recent memory. Last night was a nail-biter to the very end and perhaps one of the greatest games I've ever seen.

Tonight is going to be quite the battle and I can't wait for it to start. I'm rooting for LaRussa but if Texas should win, I won't be all that distraught. They've played great baseball as well and are just as deserving.

I hate the cards being a lifelong Giants fans but i just don't see Texas winning tonight. I can't wait to see how it turns out.

From barely making it in the playoffs on the last game of the regular season, to now being World Champs.

This goes against every fiber of my being, but Congrats to the St. Louis Cardinals...2011 World Series Champions
