    Re: 2012 NHL Playoffs Thread

I'm really trying to not get too excited. This has been a LONG time coming. We got so close in 1993 and with Gretzky it seemed like we'd be able to take that last step soon after we lost in the Finals. We have one more step to get to the Finals, but getting there isn't going to cut it.

I'll get excited after they win another 5 games.

    Re: 2012 NHL Playoffs Thread

I was at last night's game. Totally awesome!

I think not having to play so many games (only 12 so far, and only one short overtime game) is helping the Kings a lot. My buddies in 310 are appreciating the lack of Game 6's they'd have to pay for.

The promotion of Nolan and King came at the perfect time, and now they have four strong front lines and one competent extra player (Fraser or Clifford), and scratching the marginal players (drewiske, Loktionov, westgarth). Bring up Defenseman Slava Voynov to play for the traded and statistically awful Jack Johnson was another brilliant move. Last night he wasted 30 seconds on his own behind the COYOTE net, holding off two, three players from the puck.

In past years, management has thought more about losing money and losing players if they were to bring them up. I pity the breakup of this great team after they win the Cup. (I don't believe in superstitions; I'll say what I want, when I want to.)

    ^ LOL!!!

I'm definitely going to try and get tickets to a Cup Finals game. I know they are going to be pricey, but it will be worth it.

The Los Angeles Kings, despite a controversial play by Dustin Brown, are able to defeat the Phoenix Coyotes in the Western Conference Finals and will be in the Stanley Cup Finals for the first time since 1993!

    Re: 2012 NHL Playoffs Thread

Last night was AWESOME. Phoenix put up a good fight and it very easily could be 3-2 right now with the Coyotes being right back in this series. I know people are calling the Brown hit controversial, but those people obviously don't know anything about hockey. It was a clean hit all the way, nothing he could have done to avoid it.

Was it unnecessary, maybe a little. But it wasn't a hit that should have drawn a penalty.

Congrats to the Kings and their fans!!!! Time to get a day or 2 of rest while they wait for Jersey / NY to sort out their side.

I guess I'll root for the Kings! - hopefully that won't be the kiss of death for them.

Nah, they should have it at the Rose Bowl.
Except for that small scheduling conflict....
