Re: The 2013 Major League Baseball Thread

I am a lifelong baseball fan but the World Baseball Classic is not my thing.

Nice to meet you Gurugriff! I have been known to hang around these threads in the past, not so much in the last year or two. Nice to see some new blood in here!

Me, I am an Angels fan (could you tell from my avatar)? Over 47 years there has has been a great deal of disappointment rootng for this franchise. Things have been better in recent years. All I can say is, with the money they spent again this winter, they had better at least make the playoffs this year.
God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.

Nice to meet you too Radiobarry. Its good to see more baseball fans here on Mice Chat. For me, I am a huge fan of The San Francisco Giants. Since birth I have been exposed to the atmosphere of the Giants fan base and attended games at both Candlestick Park and AT&T park. Growing up, I was a huge JT Snow fan and admired his work at first base. Now I am researching a lot of my team's history especially in the New York Era. My dream career is to be a radio broadcaster and hopefully win the Ford C. Frick award. For now, I'm just going to get through college with a degree in Communications or Broadcast Journalism. I really like how the Giants are this spring. The chemistry looks pretty nice and I think if the gang just works together and keeps healthy, Im sure we can make it to post season play. I can't wait for opening day

I know Spring is just for Exhibition, but Kansas City is looking awfully fresh right now!
I'm sure they're ready to start the year already. Could they make it to post season play?
Im sure they want to make their voices heard.
And those New York Yankees. Mark Texeira is down do to an injury and won't start opening day.
    I feel bad for them

    My heart BLEEEEDS.

Yankee fans are so arrogant...always in your face....Yankee fan, don't come looking to me for sympathy.

Re: The 2013 Major League Baseball Thread

^ Haha that is true. I have some respect for Derek Jeter and Jorge Posada when he played.
I can't wait for spring to be over. Im ready for the season to begin already!

MLB News: We're about 3 weeks from opening day, which means its almost time to officially get back into the
swing of things. Any expectations and hopes for opening day? How are your teams looking in spring?

WBC News: The United States beat Canada 9-4 to join Italy in Miami with Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic.
Canada and Mexico had a quite interesting brawl and it was quite the fracas. Hope no one got hurt although both teams
are eliminated from play. The Netherlands and Japan officially claimed spots in the Semi Finals in San Francisco,
completing the Asian Pool rounds. Lets see how the rest goes!

After a 10 year hiatis from spring training, I've been back to Tempe Diablo stadium for the second year in a row. If you've never gone to spring training, I highly recommend it. Such a relaxed atmosphere, it really reminds me of the days where you just liked being at the park and not so focused on winning or losing.

I'm always excited when the new baseball season starts. The team I root for is perpetually awful (I'm hoping for 70 wins this season ) but still, it's baseball.

I have been watching a lot of the WBC. US has been clutch the last two games.

Yes they do. They have a mix of Italian Born Players such as Alex Liddi, the only Italian Born and raised player to make it into the majors, as well as Italian League players, and US Born players who either have dual citizenship or have parents born in the country. They were ranked 9th in the world. Impressive for a European Country iN my Opinion.

I am going to the first Semi Final game of the WBC in San Francisco this sunday. I hope to see the United States advance and play in my favorite stadium. Japan and The Netherlands completed the Asian pool and will be in the Semi Finals in San Francisco

Re: The 2013 Major League Baseball Thread

The WBC should interest me totally but it doesn't at all. The world cup in soccer is so electric and captivating and the WBC is really just blah. I would love to go to a game to see if that changed my opinion on the matter but I wish there was that feeling I get from MLB.

Re: The 2013 Major League Baseball Thread

The WBC is a contrived gimmick made up by MLB after baseball was dropped by the Olympics. I have tried to get into it...and just can't. The only buzz this year's event has created was as the result of the Mexico-Canada brawl.
