Anders, you beat me to it...and very well done indeed.
I started the original thread in March of 2006...and I'm glad to see that it has gone over the 2,000 post mark.
I named the thread "Talkin' Baseball" in tribute to a great song from a songwriter/singer by the name of Terry Cashman.
In the summer of 1981, during baseball's first long "strike", his original "Willie, Mickey and the Duke" helped many of us through was truly was a very empty time.
He went on to record different versions for virtually every team in the majors.
It may be 26 years later now, but we continue the tradition of "Talkin' Baseball".

Thank you POISONEDAPPLES!
I remember growing up he did different versions of songs for some teams. For the Twins it was "Tony, The Killer and Carew" I remember having an old vinyl record of it even. Talkin' Twins Baseball
They even updated it around 1996 with more modern Twins players.

And for the Angels"..."Talkin' Baseball: The California Team"
The Angels came in '61
To play in California's sun
Bill Rigney was the Manager that year
Daddy Wags could hit the pill
Take a Chance up on the hill
And junior circuit baseball was finally here
Talkin' Baseball, Bilko Bo Belinsky
Angel Baseball, Pearson and Osinsky
Rick Reichardt and Fregosi on the scene
Jim Spencer, "The Singer Throwing Machine"
Talkin' Baseball, the California team
The Halos' wings were up and down
But Johnson won The Batting Crown
The locals were all taken by The Express
There was never a lack of cash in the Angel saddlebags
And in '79 Gene Autry rode his Champion of the West
Talkin' Baseball, Mick "The Quick" and Lyman
Angel Baseball, Vada, Chalk and Ryan
McMullen, Figueroa and Fairley
Don Baylor, he was an MVP
Talkin' Baseball, The California team
When you’re Talkin' Angel baseball,
Lee Thomas and Bob Knoop
Clyde Wright won twenty games
Messersmith he did the same
Ryan's four no-hitters in three years
The batters were in tears
Scioscia has ambition
And with the Angels' ammunition
They're aiming for the Series in the Fall
We’ve got Kennedy and Scott
And “The Rally Monkey’s” hot
Tim Salmon's fine in Anaheim
So let's play ball
Talkin' Baseball, Anderson and Gil
Angel Baseball, Jarrod Washburn on the hill
Darin, Glaus and Eckstein on the scene
Percivil and Ortiz have the steam
Talkin' Baseball, The California teamWith the players indicated at the end, the original song (late 80's I think when they were still the "Calfornia" Angels) was obviously redone around 2000 when Mike Sciosia took over as manager...I'd never heard this version.
Gotta love that baseball almanac website.

So... I have to admit it. I kind of wish I was at the madness that is the Subway series since I'm visiting yoyo here on Long Island. I mean, we're a train ride away but no plans were made so we won't be going to any of the games. That's okay since I'm not a Yankee or a Mets fan, but it would be fun to experience a major league ball game one of these days with out a bubble above me. I mean, I don't plan on still being in Minnesota by the time the Twins get their new stadium in 2010. And my only other experience was at a Dogers game in 1986 with my dad's mom's season tickets after she passed away and I was too little to remember... although I was on the giant screen?![]()
One of these days you might want to plan a trip to DL when the Twins are in town! I'd be glad to go with you! Barbaraann the Chicago fan and I had a great time at the Big A when she came to visit (although we were playing Texas and not the White Sox)
Angels at Dodgers this weekend too...at 42-25, the Angels off to the best start in franchise history.

Thanks for the new thread!
Mets blank the Yanks 2-0...ending the Mets five game losing streak, and the Yankees nine game win streak, in the Bronx no less.
Let's Go Mets!

Just thought I'd point out that tonight and Sunday, one has a choice of getting the Dodgers TV or the Angels telecast of the games at Dodger Stadium.
I don't like the Dodgers. You know how I feel about the Angels.
But Vin Scully is doing the Dodger telecasts.
I'd listen to Vin Scully reading the phone book.
He is simply the best there is. Period.
Therefore, that's where my TV is set. (Tomorrow is one of those FOX regional games, so we'll get one of their nondescript nothing special types...and you have to love the start time of 12:55pm).....
Radio, on the other hand...the Angels Rory Markas and Terry Smith against Steiner and Monday after the third inning? Angels, all the way. "Just another Halo victory"...
