In just ten hours, I get on an airplane and head for Nebraska to watch my Trojans play the Huskers. I haven't been this excited since my trip to South Bend in 2005.

That's totally awesome! I went to the Notre Dame-UCLA game in South Bend last year. It's so cool there. Great atmosphere. The only thing that would've made it better was if UCLA had won...just missed it.

I would love to see two big upsets this week. The way both teams have been playing so far, I think Washington has a chance to take out Ohio State. But I'm really hoping for Nebraska to take USC out. It's a little tough to tell after one game, but there's no way USC is better than LSU right now, and the Trojans probably aren't as good as Oklahoma either.

Re: The Official 2007 College Football Thread

There are a few other games to watch for this weekend.

On saturday night, two teams that have no defense whatsoever, Kentucky and Louisville will play. I bet one team will score 50 points and the team to do that will probably win the game and it might be Kentucky.

I'm interested to see who wins between FSU and Colorado as well. I see it now as a toss-up game.

Re: The Official 2007 College Football Thread

    FRAUD FIVE
    • Notre Dame: You earned this for the third week in a row. That crying you hear is at 30 Rock.
    • Auburn: You earned this for the second week in a row. That crying you hear is from Tiger alumni remembering the good old days of Pat Dye.
    • Tennessee: It's not okay to lose to in-division rival Florida...by 39...in Gainesville...and ranked.
    • Minnesota: Florida Atlantic? In Boca Raton? Write your own joke here.
    • UCLA: Ranked...and lose to Utah in Salt Lake City. So much for last December against Southern California.

    Dishonorable Mention
    • Arkansas: You're ranked...and surrender 21 in the first quarter to unranked Alabama in Tuscaloosa?
    • New York Mets: Breaking news: Mr. Sterling no longer owns the Mets. The Phillies do. Seems the riot act in Atlanta woke that team up.

Re: The Official 2007 College Football Thread

    Some thoughts so far:

The past hour I've been flipping from the Arkansas/Alabama and Kentucky/Louisville games. What a finish in Tuscaloosa - The Hogs come off the deck and score 21 unanswered and then Bama scores 10 unanswered to win the game. Lousiville and Kentucky keep going back and forth with each other. This one will go down to the last second I am sure.

What's up with Iowa? Again they let the Cyclones beat them when they are the better team on paper.

Tubberville must be on the Hot Seat now. Auburn looks like it is in deep trouble this season.

More lower division teams beating the big boys: Marshall lost to New Hampshire and UL- Lafayette went down to McNeese State.

    What happened to UCLA? Yikes!

Re: The Official 2007 College Football Thread

Wow...what a finish in the Kentucky game last night! The Cats get a long bomb touchdown with 30 seconds to go and decide to kick the extra point instead of going for two (which would have made it a 7 point lead). So Louisville gets the ball and gets a chance to win the game. On the last play, a pass is batted in the air and completed by Louisville but the receiver is tackled short of the end zone and Kentucky wins!

Congrats to Duke for finally winning a game for the first time in a few seasons!

For those of you who care here are the Non BCS schools that are still undefeated and have a slight chance of crashing the party:

    Hawaii
    Tulsa
    Air Force

Tulsa gets their shot on National TV Friday night against Oklahoma (their first semi-real test). If Tulsa somehow beats the Sooners they have only a few minor roadblocks

Hawaii has it made until the last two games of the season, Boise State and Washington. I am not sure that even if they do go undefeated that they will be a BCS Team. their schedule is so weak. They are in the wrong Conference for that.

Air Force has a tougher schedule albeit weakened somewhat since Notre Dame is struggling. The Mountain-West is probably the toughest of the Non-BCS leagues so if Air Force can make it through its schedule undefeated they should be worthy of an At-Large BCS bid.

My Predicition - If There are any teams that crash the BCS party it will probably be Air Force. Tulsa has a shot. Hawaii doesn't have much of a chance even if the Warriors go undefeated because of their schedule

Maybe it's a little easier to tell after two games. I hate to say this, but the Trojans proved again last night why they should be, and are, the number 1 team in the nation. Domination, for the most part on both sides of the line, on the road in a hostile environment.

And to those UCLA fans "shocked" by the game in Salt Lake City...not all Bruin fans who have been watching during the legendary Karl Dorrell era were ready to "drink the Kool-Aid" on this team. Having said that, they may still make a good run in the Pac-10, and put another scare into USC.
God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.

    Uhhh, UCLA lost to...Utah.....

Duke FINALLY broke their 22 game losing streak. I think they may even have a shot at beating Notre Dame (oy...Notre Dame. Someone get them a new coach pleaSE?)
