My prediction is that the PAC 10 will be a stronger conference overall than the SEC when all is said and done.

Agreed!!! Oregon, Cal, USC, & also you have Washington and Arizona State as teams to watch out for!!!

They want to talk about the SEC sched's...they need to look at USC's schedule and at their 'away' games.
Three-time MVP Larry Bird, noting that Bryant has been the NBA's premier player for years, told Sports Illustrated's Dan Patrick before this week's announcement, "When someone told me the other day that Kobe hadn't won an MVP trophy, it sort of made me feel like I wanted to throw mine away."

Anyone else want to play? It's free. Do I have to dangle a Disney gift card for the winner as bait to get y'all to come play?

Dang, you only had a couple of good days last year, with only, what? Seven losses between them? And three of those at the hands of one another (USC over ND, USC over Michigan, Michigan over ND).

Check out these out-of-conference schedules for the SEC East:

Florida: Western Kentucky, Troy, Florida Atlantic, Florida State
Georgia: Oklahoma St., Western Carolina, Troy, @ Georgia Tech
Kentucky: Eastern Kentucky, Kent State, Louisville, Florida Atlantic
South Carolina: Louisiana Lafayette, South Carolina State, @ North Carolina, Clemson
Tennessee - @ California, Southern Miss, Arkansas St., La.-Lafayette
Vanderbilt - Richmond, Eastern Michigan, Miami (Ohio), Wake Forest

    And the SEC West:

Alabama: Western Carolina, Florida St., Houston, Louisiana Monroe
Arkansas: Troy, North Texas, Tennessee Chattanooga, Florida International
Auburn: Kansas St., S. Florida, New Mexico St., Tennessee Tech
LSU: Virginia Tech, Middle Tennessee, @ Tulane, La. Tech
Mississippi State: @ Tulane, Gardner-Webb, UAB, @ West Virginia
Ole Miss: @ Memphis, Missouri, La. Tech, Northwestern St.

A total of 48 games: 41 at home, 7 on the road. 43 against unranked opponents, 5 against ranked teams: Georgia Tech, Louisville, Cal, Virginia Tech and West Virginia. Even taking in-conference foes into account, the Pac 10 is tougher, since the typical SEC team plays only 2 or 3 of the ranked SEC opponents (#3 LSU, #6 Florida, #16 Georgia, #20 Tennessee, #21 Auburn), while the Pac 10 teams play all of the Pac 10's ranked teams (#1 USC, #11 Cal, #15 UCLA, #22 Oregon State) other than, of course, themselves.

Re: The Official 2007 College Football Thread

Very good point Pete. I do know that now there are 12 games the schools in the SEC are now arranging for tougher schedules. I do know that Georgia is trying to avoid playing throw-away games next year Georgia gets to play Arizona State out in Tempe which will be interesting. In 2009 Georgia plays at Oklahoma State and The Sun Devils return the Home-and Home. Apparently Colorado, Louisville, Oregon, and Clemson are on future schedules already. I do wish Georgia and Clemson would play more often as it used to be a traditional game.

Re: The Official 2007 College Football Thread

USC fans should enjoy their preseason ranking at number 1, after they beat that powerhouse Idaho that first week, they have a tough schedule with away games at Nebraska, ND, Wash, and Cal. It is going to be tough to go undefeated with that schedule. Nebraska is a much different team at home than away and having then early is going to be tough. I think some Big 10, ACC or SEC will go undefeated and then will have an argument over who should be #2 and playing for the National Championship with one loss.

Watch out for some nonconference BCS school to shake things up also. I think Hawaii may be this years Boise State.

I think it's pretty exciting that in USA Today's Super 25 (football) National High School rankings, 5 California High Schools are listed.

    6. De La Salle, Concord
    7. Mater Dei, Santa Ana
    11. Poly, Long Beach
    18. Edison, Huntington Beach
    19. Notre Dame, Sherman Oaks
