Re: The Official 2007 College Football Thread

If only the game weren't on a Thursday...oh, well. Hubster and I will just have to drown our sorrows in a pitcher of beer and beyond-hot wings at the local sports bar on game day. I just have to remember not to get wing sauce in my eyes when I wipe away my tears.

And Rob? Hubby and I will get down there soon. And when we do, we are going to take advantage of you in ways you never dreamed. Zoo? Dining? Tip of the iceberg, buddy. Tip of the iceberg...

My other alma mater, Cal State Fullerton, no longer has a football team. I'm now on the committee to change that. Check it out.

I wish you luck with that! I know there's growing interest from the fans to bring back Big West Conference football, with the exception of Cal Poly and UC Davis, since they already compete. I don't think there's too much support from the administrations at each of the schools though, and I know people at all, Fullerton included. I'd love for it to happen though, college football is a big part of the college campus experience that schools like CSUF are now missing out on and keeps students from having an attachment to the university.

Now that was an amazing finish to that BYU game... wow!

I had the pleasure of attending the Poinsettia Bowl here in San Diego thursday night to watch Utah and Navy. Despite a slow first half the seond half of the game was great with a game that came down to the last minute. This was my first time going to the Poinsettia Bowl, I had been to the Holiday Bowl a few times in the past. I was impressed with the events that took place like the extra long firework display during halftime to the very low flyover we had. It was a GREAT way to start off th bowl season!

The Holiday Bowl was crazy. Texas dominated.

Another loss in my college football bowl pool. I'm getting used to it.

In a way, I'm happy for Mack Brown's stepson. Had Arizona State come back to win the game... well, as it is ESPN overdid it with so many shots of him on the sidelines.

I was a little surprised that they overturned that call becausze while I think he touched the ball, I'm not entirely certain after seeing a thousand replays already...

Not as competitive as many Holiday Bowls in the past, but still a mighty entertaing game - especially if "Hook Em Horns" is your battle cry.

I'm an ASU fan and I don't think he touched the ball. Though, he and the half a dozen other coaches/players shouldn't have been on the field at that point which deserved a penalty.

It was a crazy game, Texas got several breaks on interceptions that were deflections and lucky that a few of McCoy's fumbles turned out the way they did, one should have been a TD for ASU and one was almost not a TD for Texas. While it seems like Texas dominated, they did outplay ASU, but the game was closer than it played out. Texas pretty much got all but the one break and ASU still doesn't have an offensive line this season.

Congratulations to the Oregon Ducks and the Cal Bears. Tomorrow, Go Trojans! Because of my surgery, I'm going to miss my first USC Rose Bowl since before I became a Trojan. Hopefully, they can kick some butt for me to ease my pain.

A big day for the Pac 10, along with Rick Neuheisel's formal introduction as coach at UCLA.

You're in my prayers for a full recovery, Pete. It's almost enough for me to want to root for the Trojans in the Rose Bowl. Almost.

    Happy New Year!

Quack QuackQuack QuackQuack QuackQuack QuackQuack QuackQuack Quack! !! !! !

Thank you Ducks! It wasn't the Championship but that was a great (and much needed) victory today. Hopefully now some of the "Overrated" talk will die down. Roper has impressed the heck out of me and I really think that by his junior and senior years he'll be a force to reckon with. Stewart was amazing. 258 yards! And that's without playing most of the fourth quarter! The rumor is that he'll be back next year because he promised his Mom that he'd finish college. If true that sets us up great for next year.

Overall a very fun day for a Duck fan. Even despite the best efforts of a hyperactive officiating crew we did it! Woo hoo!
