He shouldn't lose his job. It's not like they lost to the Louisiana School of the Deaf. They lost to a defending champion. App State probably could beat Duke, Temple, Stanford, and other schools in Michigan's Division.

Two great games I'm looking forward to tonight. Both should be close ones for sure.

Well, here's another one of my annual college football debate topics that are like old chestnuts...

Michigan, coming in the 5th-ranked team in the nation (more evidence of why early polls are useless) loses its first game, and its hopes for a national championship are all but doused on the first day of September because of the way Division One determines its champion.
God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.

Meanwhile Appalachian State has pretty much clinched a birth in their division's Playoff. They could lose two games and still get a birth because they beat Michigan.

Do remember. Memory is the only place the University of Coaches Looting Apartments is going to be as good as USC this year.

    How 'bout dem Mountaineers?????

App State Beat Michigan!!! and I still can't get over this one, Right on App State!!! I love it!! Michigan looses to a 1AA team. Tee hee hee.

Duke/ Uconn? Pbbbbt, Duke's defense came out like there was no tomorrow and then the air was let out of their tires and it just got UGLY!!! For some reason their QB can't seem to remember that their team is wearing the Duke blue jersey's....ah well, as they say at the stadium..."Wait till march!!! Wait till March....'

One coach (I believe it was Arkansas IIRC) was fired after losing to a D-I FCS team a decade ago.

Re: The Official 2007 College Football Thread

I was impressed by Georgia and Georgia Tech. I figured both games would have been closer. Looking like it might be another barnburner on the Saturday after Thanksgiving.

Cal leading Tennesee and K-State ahead of Auburn right now. Very interesting.

NC Stage goes down to Central Florida. Congrats to George O'Leary's bunch!

What's up with Minnesota? Bowling Green leads them 21-7 at the end of the 3rd Quarter.

Do I assume that you do, or soon will, have November 10 with a big target around it on your calendar?

That's when you get USC up there...you guys might have the best shot to knock em off.

I'm sure coach Tedford wouldn't appreciate that kind of talk. Take em one at a time, I'm sure he'd say.

And one final word of congrats again to Appalachian State. You guys rocked the Big House, and the whole college football world.

Re: The Official 2007 College Football Thread

A couple of loose ends from yesterday:

The Golden Gophers did come back but lost to Bowling Green 32-31.

Auburn surged late to beat Kansas State and survive.

Congrats to Cal for getting revenge on Tennessee! I think that they do have a shot against USC and so does Arizona State.

Texas barely got by Arkansas State 21-13. I wonder if that will be an outlier or is it a sign of bad things?

Michigan was not the only team to lose to a team in the FCS (formerly Div 1-AA) yesterday. Rice lost to Nichols State 16-14 last night.

I listened to some of the Cal feed on XM last night. Their announcer sounds like he is the same one that called "The Play"

A win is a win, no matter how tough/ugly it is...it's all about the scoreboard when the clock shows 0:00.
