I saw TWO things yesterday I don't believe I've seen before in my lifetime.

    1) A I-AA school with ZERO chance of winning knocks off a powerhouse program like Michigan at home. Who even KNEW Appalachian State was a real school?

    and

    2) A rookie who is starting late in the season throws a no hitter in his second outing.

You live long enough and you might just see anything.

Uhhh, excuse me? Appalachian State has won back to back 1AA national championships in 2005 and 2006. Anyone who knows football would know this. Not just those of us in BFE North Carolina.

I am going to make a prediction. Michigan's loss may be the beginning of the end of the "Cupcake Game" as we know it. I think what we will see in the future is the allowance of a "scrimmage" before the beginning of the season that does not count. All the other levels of football have at least one scrimmage before the regular season starts. Why should College football be any different.

Never going to happen. There is to much money for these small schools to play these games. The only repercussion this loss will have is Carr is now on the hot seat. If he loses to Ohio St again this year and does not win the Rose Bowl, he is going to be looking for a job in Division II next year.

The Fraud Five (After Week 1)
    • Michigan - Lloyd Carr must be fired and must be fired now.
    • Rice - Lose to Nichols State after going to your first bowl game since the JFK administration?
    • Florida State - Embarrased by Clemson.
    • Temple - Sorry, Al Golden, those 1970's helmets and pants have got to go.
    • Phillies bullpen - You blew that 5-0 lead to the Marlins Sunday. Shame, shame, shame on you.

Re: The Official 2007 College Football Thread

After reviewing the game, UCLA looked good overall. I wish they weren't ranked so high though in the polls. I really doubt that's where they're going to end up. Khalil Bell was impressive, but I wish that the backup RB, Williams (#30 or something), wasn't injured. Last year, he showed some promise in his limited play. Ben Olson is sadly mistaken if he thinks he can keep throwing those crappy fade passes throughout the whole season. If he keeps that up, he is going to get picked so many times. Bruins secondary is solid. Even with all my pessimistic views, go Bruins!

Oh ya, I almost forgot. I'm totally going to dominate in the College Pick 'Em!

But they're playing Michigan...the big school, with all the resources, with all the facilities, the best talent, the top recruits. And they're playing them in the Big House. I'm sorry, Kat, but there is just no excuse for Michigan to lose that game.
