Barry, that Beagles game tonight (8/13) put you, me and billions of people to sleep.

Contrary to what some might think, there are more things going on in the NFL than just the Vick thing.

What's going on with the Raiders and Russell? I hate the "Silver and Slack" but Dante Culpepper still has some good football left in him.

Can the Chargers overcome their playoff loss of a year ago? I'll root for em but I thimk right now the best team in a loaded AFC is probably New England.

The Bears, overall, are best in the NFC. I think Grossman will show a big improvement. But I'm leaning toward New Orleans - watch out for Reggie Bush.

The season starts a week from next Thursday.

I'll have my official picks here before then. The day before.

    -- Barry

PS...Again, preseason games don't mean much, if anything - except a scam for owners to get regular season ticket prices from their season ticket holders and anyone else who likes to watch exhibition games.

Preseason is pretty valuable. It lets teams evaluate their players and who will end up starting and who will be 2nd string, 3rd string, etc. I hope that Coach Nolan will finally come to his senses and place RT Kwame Harris on the bench and give Joe Staley his starting spot. The reason Alex Smith had to keep running out the pocket last season was because the right side of our line constantly failed. Start Joe!

I agree with those that have proposed a two "exhibition" game, and 18 regular season game schedule.

In any event, there's no need for the current number of pre-season games, since nowadays you have minicamps and training camps seemingly most of the year.

When I was a kid, they played six pre season games. What a joke that was.

I just hope the Raiders will be somewhat of a winning team this year.

I love watching men in uniforms Go RAIDERS!

Well, folks, in case you didn't know...the 2007 NFL season kicks off in about 17 hours from the time of this posting...with the NFC runner up Saints visiting last year's Super Bowl Champ Colts.

Now that most of the off the field stuff is dealt with, it looks like a great season.

Who you picking for the Super Bowl?

I have the Chicago Bears and the San Diego Chargers playing next February in Glendale, Arizona.

    Thoughts?

Finally we're done with all the pre-season game crap! Even though I'm a Broncos fan, I've got New Orleans Saints vs. New England Patriots in the Super Bowl.

I'm so happy. It's the most wonderful time of the year

    Go Chargers!!

Barry, Interesting pick for the Super Bowl especially since they are playing each other this weekend. Will we see a rematch in Feb?

Guess you've been drinking the Jay Cutler Kool-Aid, so to speak, big time...

San Diego wil have some adjustment with a new head coach...I see them going 12-4 this year.

Haha, maybe just a little. I don't think going 6-0 in the AFC West is out of the question... I'll be thrilled with a 10-6 finish. But their schedule is just kind of at the medium difficulty level - their toughest out of division opponents are at home. With the exception of a Week 12 game at Chicago, they have a favorable schedule.

I'm not a fan of the Bears making it to the Bowl again this season. It still amazes me how they made it last postseason solely off of their defense and special teams, with no QB. Rex's QB rating ranked 29th last season, so it's a miracle to me how his teammates picked up his slack.
