Semi-Official 2007 NFL Season Thread Part I

I'm not a fan of the Bears making it to the Bowl again this season. It still amazes me how they made it last postseason solely off of their defense and special teams, with no QB. Rex's QB rating ranked 29th last season, so it's a miracle to me how his teammates picked up his slack.

But what bout that defense. I do hear some people picking the Rams (gag - I still loathe Madame Ram) as being very good in St. Louis this year. Again, it looks like it's unbalanced as far as good teams go with the majority being in the AFC.

Ugh, why did the Rams move? My dad stopped watching the NFL after they moved from L.A., seriously - he just gave up.

But since I root for the Broncos, he'll ask how they're doing, but doesn't watch the games.

They moved from LA to Anaheim because the usually stupid Coliseum Commission wouldn't budge on some stadium improvements Carroll Rosenbloom asked for.

At the same time (1979) Anaheim wooed him with an expanded stadium, luxury boxes, a sweetheart land deal and the promise of an office complex to be built on the land of the Big A parking lot (that last never came to pass cuz Gene Autry fought it in court and won after a long battle)

Carroll died before they moved to OC (the deal had already been done) and Georgia...Madame Ram...took over. 14 years later fans weren't flocking to Anaheim because she had run down the franchise so badly...then after 1994 they used a loophole in their lease to skip town and head to Missouri where the taxpayers gave her the sweetheart deal of all time.

I'm a bit worried about the Chargers. Their defense looked sloppy in the preseason. There's nothing like starting out with the defending NFC Champions followed by the Patriots to see what you're made of.

I guess we'll find out a few hours from now.

Chargers are the deepest team in the league. Not sure why they aren't getting picked as Super Bowl reps from the AFC. In the NFC, I'm a homie. Love my 'Hawks. I think Seattle can make it deep into the playoffs, but we must get home field advantage. We don't seem to travel well come January. Might come down to us and DKat's Panthers in the NFC title game???
