Cubs and Angels fan. That's a great combination. Perhaps someday they will meet in the Series. Now that would be nice for sure.

As you know, BA, I am all for that too. Seems a bit farfetched for both teams at the moment but you never know.
RIP, Ernie Harwell...we knew this was coming, but somehow it doesn't make it any easier. Hopefully you're up there with Jack Brickhouse and Jack Buck and Ralph Kiner and Harry Caray and all of the rest from a bygone era, calling those great games they must be having in heaven.
Yesterday, my husband and I were out shopping at his favorite sports store. He bought a really cool Blackhawks shirt that said, "We Want The Cup, In Chicago". The shirt has a picture of "The Cup", and a nice Blackhawks logo. Of course, that's a mutual feeling for anyone who is rooting for their favorite hockey team at the moment. It is a cool shirt, and I am glad that my husband finally bought himself something. He wanted to buy me one as well. I passed. I said, I'd rather have a shirt that says, "The Stanley Cup, is won by Chicago".
Not to get ahead of ourselves of course, it is a nice feeling to know that your team is doing well at the moment, and could soon advance to the next round.
Cubs rookie, Starlin Castro had a fantastic first day in the majors. Not only was his first major league at bat special for the fact that he hit a homerun, but he later hit a triple, and for the day he had 6 RBI's.
Now I will go back to reading all the great things written about this young man in my sports section this morning.
Have a great Saturday sports fans.
There's not really a whole lot of time between periods in a hockey game. Not time enough anyway for me to take a break and make my salad for dinner. By the time, I finished that salad, there was only about 6 minutes left to go in the game. I also missed the go ahead goal. Now with less than a minute to go, I am definitely on the edge of my seat as I type this.
Talk about nerves. No wonder my husband won't even watch. I can imagine how the players must feel.
I can now breathe a sigh of relief. The Blackhawks held on to win this one, 2 to 1.
I especially liked the article in my morning paper about how the two Chicago baseball teams are really going to be in for some harsh criticism once Hockey season is official over for the Blackhawks.
Hopefully, that won't be for a while, as the Blackhawks are up in their series with the Sharks, 2 games to 0.
I am all set to watch game 3 of the Stanley Cup Finals.
I admit that when the games are on, I am usually doing other things, otherwise the nerves will really get to me. It must be my age, because sometimes I even doze off. No the games are not boring. I am just old, and anemic.
Can the Hawks do it? I guess we shall see,
I am usually up about 6 a.m. in the morning. I turned on my television in time to watch the very beginning of Sports Center. The first thing that I saw was the coverage of the blown call on the perfect game that was thrown by the Tiger pitcher.
While watching the Blackhawks game, I saw instant replay correct a mistake, and rightfully give the Flyers a goal.
Instant replay needs to be added to baseball.
By the way, I have retired all the brooms in my house to their rightfull places.
It is with a heavy heart that I post in here...Coach John Wooden passed away this evening.
Having been a part of the UCLA family and community for five years, I had the privilege of many brief interactions with Coach Wooden and found him to be one of the kindest people I've ever met, especially for someone who has accomplished as much as he has. More than just a basketball coach, he was a tremendous teacher of life and will be dearly missed.
Wow! The man was 99 years old. I know when I tell my husband I want to live that long, he says no.
The man obviously left a lasting impression on many many people during his long productive life.
I cut my basketball teeth on John Wooden's great UCLA teams of the 60's and 70's. So many great players, with Lewis Alcindor (later Kareem Abdul-Jabbar), Bill Walton, Gail Goodrich, so many others.
He retired 35 years ago...after winning his 10th NCAA championship...yet with his books, his outreach and his speeches, etc...he touched the lives of countless people after that.
I treasure the memory of attending the "For the Kids" event that featured Vin Scully and he two years ago.
He said the first most important thing for any basketball player...was learning the proper method of putting on one's socks, and tying one's shoes.
He was quite a man indeed, and what a life he led. A Los Angeles icon to be sure.
Thanks, Coach. I am sure that even now, he's being reunited with his beloved wife Nell.
Add: I have been told that Vin Scully announced the news, to the crowd at Dodger Stadium on the DiamondVision board between the sixth and seventh innings of tonight's game. The crowd responded with a standing ovation.
June 9, 2010. Will this day go down as the one where the Blackhawks finally get to hoist the Stanley Cup?
Only time will tell.
Yes, it's true. Chicago Blackhawks are the Stanley Cup Champs.
Patrick Kane scores the winning goal in overtime.
49 years was a long time to wait, but the wait is over.
Chicago will have a victory celebration on Friday. The governor of Illinois just announced that.
It's been a week since the Blackhawks became Stanley Cup Champions. The players have become celebrities overnight, but the real celebrity seems to be the Cup itself. Well yesterday coach Quenneville took the Stanley Cup to Children's Memorial Hospital here in Chicago. The kids there got to touch it, and they even got their own little confetti celebration. Some of those kids aren't sure about their tomorrows. The goal was to spread a little happiness in their lives today, and considering the smiles that goal was reached.
The Chicago Cubs are not playing very good baseball. However, they always seem to be in the news lately. The other day they hosted the Blackhawks and hoisted the Stanley Cup. Now they are serving Macaroni and Cheese outside of Wrigley. Is it an attention getter? A photo Op? Advertising "You Know You Love It" on a giant macaroni and cheese on Clark and Addison has gotten my attention, but not enough to go down there with my camera and pose for a picture.
What's next? Stay tuned and I'm sure the new Cubs management will come up with something.
By the way, would you kiss the Stanley Cup if you had the chance?
One night after the Lakers play the Celtics in an epic game 7 to decide the NBA title in Los Angeles, Manny Ramirez will return to Fenway Park for the first time since unceremoniously leaving the Red Sox...the Dodgers, in Boston for the weekend.
And in another intriguing interleague matchup, the Angels will spend the weekend visiting Chicago's Wrigley Field for the first time in their history.
The old Pacific Coast League Angels, and the first-year American League Los Angeles Angels, played at the long since defunct Wrigley Field in Los Angeles.
