The sports talk around here goes in spurts. Lately it's been non existent. I was surprised there wasn't even any talk about the 49ers being in the Super Bowl. I guess Facebook has even taken the sports talk off of MiceChat.

Michael Jordan turns 50, and there's a nice section in my Chicago Sun Times today commemorating that very fact. Nice reading for me as I return from my Sunday meal with my husband.

Michael will be interviewed tomorrow night on NBA TV. Nationally the Jordan talk has been incessant the last two weeks or so. LeBron James is a great player but he is no Jordan. Me? I would take Magic over the both of them.

I love horse racing! I rarely can get to Santa Anita or Hollywood Park, but I try to watch on TVG when I can. I also enjoy watching show jumping too. I was glued to the computer last summer watching the live stream of the Olympic equestrian competitions.

I only went to horse racing one time in my life. My son took me to the Arlington Racetrack that is near his house in the suburbs of Chicago. It was fun, but not something that I would do regularly like some folks do. I do like watching the Kentucky Derby, although it broke my heart when Barbaro won and later died.

I am not a Los Angeles Lakers fan. But I recognize that Dr. Jerry Buss is one of the great owners in the history of sport, certainly the greatest in LA history. So glad to see that in his passing, he is being given his "due".

A lot of folks tuned in NASCAR for the first time yesterday because of the Danica Patrick factor at Daytona. I wonder how many of those will be back in front of a TV for the Phoenix race next week.
