I am watching the Canadians against the Austrians in Mens Hockey, and Canada is up 6 goals to zero. It appears that these hockey teams are very lopsided. Some that will dominate, and some that compete, but fall very short.
The USA Women's Hockey Team has advanced to the Gold Medal Game on Thursday. So glad that I don't have to wake up at the crack of dawn to watch that game. The game will be shown at noon here in Chicago, so I will definitely be watching.
I have my television on, and I check the various channels for Olympic Coverage, throughout the day.
I was glued to my television set yesterday, while the USA Women battled the Canadiens in Hockey. I have learned that it is never over, until it is over. You can't count your chickens.... The smiles on the winners, and the tears and the faces of the USA team members was difficult to watch.
However, it is a great accomplishment, that the USA team took the Silver.
Today the Chicago Cubs start playing baseball in Chicago. It is way too cold for Opening Day. Temperatures will only be in the mid 40's. Wrigley Field is 100 years old this year, and sadly, the Cubs play like old men.
Playoff Hockey is just around the corner, and it's not looking promising for the much injured Blackhawks.
What a difference a year makes. The Hockey playoffs start next week, and I'm going to have to remind myself to watch them. Does that make me a fair weather fan? I admit that it's so much more fun watching when they're winning. The men in my family are much better fans than me.
It takes 16 wins to win the Cup. That's four rounds of games. 4 different opponents. I have been lucky to have seen two Stanley Cup victories for my team in recent years. I was down on my team after they lost two games to the Blues. Tonite, they played much better. it's along road ahead.
Blackhawks advance to the 2nd round of the Hockey Playoffs. Embarrassed to say how I spoke about them after the first two games. Wasn't sure they were going to make it out of the first round. They proved me wrong, beating St. Louis today by a score of 5 to 1.
Oh me, of little faith. Hopefully, I'll get better in that department. Perhaps all my Cubs watching is affecting the brain/heart.
