Re: Stop By, and Say Hi, Sports Fans!

I ventured down to Wrigley Field today about 2 0'clock. That was 3 hours before the game was to start. The place was hopping. I took some pictures, and generally had a good time. I returned home, by way of CTA, and arrived home in time for the first pitch.

It was hit out of the ballpark. It was all down hill from there.

Since the Cubs are out of the playoffs, I'll just enjoy watching all the rest of the good baseball that's being played by the teams still left.

    I enjoyed the ride.

Hopefully the Angels can reverse the trend of "sweeps" tomorrow afternoon...so we can keep our flickering hopes alive for another day.

The Cubs did have a good ride...probably better than expected even with all the money they spent.

Wait til next year...it woukd be just like them to win it on the century mark.

Congratulations to the D-backs and Rockies...the NLCS will feature one team that's nine years old, and another that's fourteen.

    Kids today.

Re: Stop By, and Say Hi, Sports Fans!

My newspaper was not delivered this morning. The one day that I really want to see the sports headlines, and I can't.

Perhaps you figure that the last thing that I want to do is read about the fall of this year's Chicago Cubs team. Quite the contrary. As much as you really hope deep down inside that you want your team to finally do it, you prepare yourself for the opposite.

I've always said that perhaps we have always lost, because that is what is expected of this team.

I'd still like to read my paper. I have checked the online version of the SunTimes and it has some telling signs of fans disappointment. I don't hurt for the team. I hurt for the loyal fans that wear their hearts on their sleeves, and show up in record numbers. They want to be there, just in case this thing ever really gets done.

Don't say wait till next year. Next year never comes in Chicago.

Re: Stop By, and Say Hi, Sports Fans!

The last 2 teams left to play on this day are the Indians and the Yankees.

It is a hot muggy day here in Chicago. It would have been a beautiful day for a game at Wrigley.

However, I can only sit here and watch the other teams play. I guess I could have watched footbal instead, but my head is still in the baseball season.

My all time favorite ballplayer has always been Lou Gehrig. I wish my Cubs played like he did. I have heard the Cubs analyzed a million ways. They don't play fundamentally well. I say that about my grandson's Little League team, and they are teenagers. You shouldn't hear that about a major League team.

Indians have struck first in their game, which I have on my television.

I am sad that my Angels are done for the season. That's just the kind of fan that I am. But they still have a nucleus of a good team that should be in the running for the next couple of years at least.

Even though the Angels had injuries, that's all part of the game. No excuses here.

Thank you Angels for a fine season that was a lot of fun. Congratulations to the Red Sox, the best team of all those remaining.

If the Indians sweep too, no baseball til Thursday night. Yuk.

When the Cubs and the Sox finish playing baseball in Chicago, we all become Bears fans.

The Chicago Bears are playing tonite. Since the Yankees/Indians game is still on, I have the Bears on the radio. The Packers are winning at the moment. The score is Packers 7 Bears 0.

Yankees show again why they are considered the best team of baseball of all time. I know that some people don't want to admit that, but they had their backs against the wall, and they won this game. There will be a 4th game tomorrow.

    I'm so happy right now.

My throat hurts a little bit from all the screaming, but that's ok.

I'm glad that your happy. A good baseball game can do that for you. Take something soothing for your throat.

The Bears just got an interception, and then a touchdown against Green Bay. The football game is in the 3rd Quarter. Green Bay is winning, but they are only up by 3.

Nice comeback for the Bears and a 27-20 win at Lambeau Field. By the way, I'd love to see a Packers game in that historic stadium. But since some people put their name on a season ticket waiting list over 30 years ago and are stil waiting...I'd say that's about as hard a place to get into as Club 33...

Of course, you can't buy scalpers tickets to get into the Club ... so far as I know ...
