    What's your favorite sports movie?

What is your favorite sports movie? Can you watch it over, and over again, and never get tired of it?

I like the movie "Pride of the Yankees". It is the story of Lou Gehrig. It is also a love story about Lou Gehrig, and his wife. Gary Cooper plays Lou Gehrig. Walter Brennan plays a broadcaster, and Babe Ruth plays himself.

For years, nobody made any sports films, then the popular "Field of Dreams" movie was made. It is my 2nd favorite sports film, and I have watched that and "8 Men Out" over and over again.

I have and always will have a soft spot for "Eight Men Out". It was the first baseball movie I saw and I loved it and I always will.

And I also like Necessary Roughness

In that order, for me too! I've probably seen Field at least 25 times. I always cry when the young Moonlight Graham goes to save the little girl, and the Burt Lancaster character realizes...he can't go back again.

And of course when Ray Kinsella gets to play catch with his Dad.

And Brian's Song with James Caan and Billy Dee Williams. I once posted about Gale Sayers and his book, I Am Third.
Check it out. One of the best sports books I've ever read.

Third on my list...the most authentic baseball movie ever made, in my opinion...61*...the Billy Crystal movie for HBO...check out the DVD.

Eight Men Out...Bang the Drum Slowly...the original "Longest Yard"..."Semi-Tough", "North Dallas 40"...That's what I have, for now.
God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.

Field of Dreams is definitely one of my favorites. I also love Jerry Maguire, so what if it's not a total sports movie, it shows the behind the scenes part of sports which is where I work, behind the scenes, plus it was filmed on the campus of my alma mater, Arizona State.

I'm not going to say it's a great movie overall, but I really enjoy Any Given Sunday as well. To many to list, Slap Shot, Caddyshack, I don't care how bad the acting is but Blue Chips, and it's not really a movie, but Hoop Dreams.

I'm only a casual fan of actual sports, but I'm a total sucker for sports movies. Can't say that Ireally have an absolute favorite, but some that I enjoy a lot are Major League, Sandlot, Cool Runnings (I'm such a dork. I always get choked up at the end of that one.), and many more.

    The Bad News Bears.

No question about it. I was 8 at the time and in the day this movie was not considered appropriate for an 8 year old, let alone the 13 year olds like my brother's friends who had gone to see it and told us all about it.

One night our late teen-age babysitter decided to take us to a movie. My brother and I wanted to see The Bad News Bears. She wanted to see All The President's Men -- uggh! especially for an 8 year old. We were begging and pleading and we won. Sat in a packed Edwards Newport Theatre in the front row. It was a great experience.

I really liked Bull Durham and Finding Forrester (sort of about Basketball).

Seabiscuit and Remember the Titans also come to mind. I'm sure that there's a zillion others - I also quite liked the last Rocky movie.

Will trade husband for Disneyland and DCA Pins!

The movie My Blue Heaven cracks me up. Not really a baseball movie, but it has baseball parts in it. Steve Martin, Rick Moranis, and Joan Cusack are hysterical.
