Re: Talking Baseball: The Hot Stove League Thread

Wikipedia is reporting that my Philadelphia Phillies will have a new Sunday and Holiday alternate home uniform without the familiar red pinstripes and a blue cap based on those last worn in 1948.

And congratulations to Cleveland's Eric Wedge and Arizona's Bob Melvin on winning their league's Manager of the Year awards.

And congrats to the Angels Mike Sciosia for tying for a distant second with some guy named Torre, who I heard recently found work in Southern California as well.

    Certainly not your average Joe.

Wan't it like a month ago that I heard that A-Rod was DONE as a Yankee. Now he's close to re-signing with them for $275 million for 10 yrs.

I did find it funny that Scott Boras (Rodriguez's agent) was left out of negotiations, due to his rough relationship with the Steinbrenners. Just another subplot in this soap opera we call Alex Rodriguez's career with the Yankees.

    Barry Bonds got pwned today.
Barry Bonds was indicted Thursday for perjury and obstruction of justice, charged with lying when he told a federal grand jury that he did not knowingly use performance-enhancing drugs.

We're already talking about Bonds' p\/\/ag3 in another thread. (God, I hate LEET).

And here is what the Phillies' proposed new alternate home uniforms (without red pinstripes!) will look like:

    Major downgrade.

D'oh! I looked around real quick and didn't see it anywhere else. Not a Phillies fan, but the new uniforms are ugly.

The thread is called "Bonds Indited By Feds". Should be listed on the first sports page.

BTW, A-Rod re-signs with the Yankees: Ten Years, $275 million with more if he breaks Barry Bonds'* record.

Ahh Haa!!! at Scott Boras! Kenny Rogers fired Boras as his agent.

Sorry if no one else thinks this is funny, but I for one find it hilarious!

But, as we all know, "it's not about the money"...

It hasn't been Scott's best week, has it? At least we see that what goes around comes around, at least once in a while...

And so much for all the guys showing their loyalty to Joe Torre. When they say it's not about the money...guess what. It's about the money.

I'd just love to see what A-Rod's regular paycheck must look like. Just to see those numbers. His deductions alone from each check would be more than we all make in a year, I'll bet.

I cannot mention Alex Rodriguez's name around my mom. She just gets frustrated and points out how much money he's making.

And the Toronto Blue Jays as well as the Cleveland Indians will be going retro-style. The tribe will have a 1950's home alt uniform, while the Jays will have the replica of the 1977 baby blue road uniforms...with pullover jerseys and knit-in belts!

    Little League unis IMHO.
