NHL Hockey in the snow... Just plain Weird

Well, the NHL is setting a record in attendance, as over 74,000 folks showed up at the Buffalo Bills stadium, where they set up a rink on top of the grass. Currently snowing, looks like a great time, but COLD! (NBC is broadcasting).

Interesting, but the periods are being played in 2 10 minute halfs, with the teams switching sides and the ice resurfaced, twice as much as normal.

This was a good game. Congrats to the Penguins. Sydney Crosby is a monster! Gretzky X2.
I'm a Sharks fan, so I didn't really care who won, but it was fun to watch. I grew up in Michigan, so this game took me back to when I used to play on the ice a little bit with my friends- sometimes without skates, just sliding around in our tennis shoes. It was really fun once you would get going you wouldn't even notice the cold anymore. When you went inside to thaw out you would finally realize how cold it really was.

I think it is an awesome Idea and hope they do it every year.

Why not make the All Star game a Stadium game every year, as a matter of fact?

I thought it was great fun to watch. It kept my remote away from the bowl games AND the TZ marathon for awhile! I'd like to see more games played outside...even here in California, where the trick could be to see how many goals are scored before the ice melts!
God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.

That would be uber awesome to have one every year. Next time it's in NY, i'm going.

as someone who grew up where hockey is played outdoors daily in the winter months, it was a beautiful sight to see that game the other day. The snow was just perfect. Almost every hockey player (those not from the south at least) started playing hockey outdoors on frozen ponds with snow banks surrounding the rink. It was a great event for the sport and I would love to see it become an annual event.
