![]() | Re: About monorail widget (Merged threads) He that's great DVkid07, despite the errors! As for a sound, a honk of the horn would be good (I can provide the sound, if you want) since the Jack Wagner spiel wouldn't work since that's from WDW.

![]() | Re: About monorail widget (Merged threads) Another problem you have is that the lead car door doesn't open, as well as the left door on all the other cars. Plus, you can't close the doors!

As far as the honk goes, I'd love if you could pass it along. Sound is a little low on my list right now, but I think it could be fun.

![]() | Re: About monorail widget (Merged threads) Do you think you could throw a slider together DVkid07? I've been thinking all day about this. I may have come up with a solution. Possibly, we could remove "interpolation" from the quartz file, leaving the color open. I'm not sure, but I'm pretty sure that you can add to files together with JavaScript. I would add the value of the slider and set it up so that the value of the slider would control the hue of the white background. Is it possible to make a slider with values 1-100 on it? Maybe we could set up two "radios" so that you could define you own colors or go with pre-set ones -- red, blue, and orange... I still am struggling with the movement though... I'l try something soon, but don't get disappointed if I don't get right back. I think it would be cool if there was an air hiss when the doors open and close...

![]() | Re: About monorail widget (Merged threads) In the future, I would like to see version that looks like it's moving. You could get a video of the scenery outside the monorail window, and make a beam with cracks on it that pass by every so often. To top it all off, there could be a console that you could select the speed of the background/beam (it would have to be backwards of course, or it would look like it was going in the opposite direction) and honk the horn. And DVkid07 there actually is a Tiger emulator in Quartz Composer. File> Test in Runtime> Tiger. Good luck, and please don't do all of the above things at once. Your brain will fry.

![]() | Re: About monorail widget (Merged threads) Hey Kan, I definitely like the idea of a control console. I've actually had a sketch in my notebook for a few days of a "monorail simulator" app that lets the user pretend they're a monorail pilot. Control speed, honk the horn, turn the headlights on and off, control the doors. Certainly a bigger undertaking than what we're on right now, but could be really cool. Also an idea that could be built out for other attractions, like the DLRR. When I was younger, I built a Star Tours control console using HTML and JavaScript that let the "Attractions Host" load the simulators, start the show, unload, and perform other random operations activities. And yes, I do recognize that I'm a complete nerd. It's okay, I've come to terms with it. As far as getting a slider in place, it would involve binding controls in Dashcode which I haven't yet played with its a little further down the line. For now, I have a version of color control (essentially clicking on the left side of the train moves the color hue down in value while clicking right moves the value up) that should do for now. I'm currently working out the 10.4 compatibility issue. I have an answer, but it involves some logic switches that I'm having trouble wrapping my head around at the moment. And as far as the brain frying goes, I'm far past that point.

![]() | Re: About monorail widget (Merged threads) Been a long night, with sadly little to show for it so far. I'm still discovering the exact cause of the door opening issues, and do feel quite a bit closer to having a version that works on 10.4 and 10.5. Sadly, tomorrow is booked solid. I should have something either late tomorrow night or mid-day Saturday. Thanks for the support and the bug testing guys! Can't wait to implement all the fun stuff that's coming up.

![]() | Re: About monorail widget (Merged threads) Well I suppose we are sort of all like beta testers for each other... That is interesting how you made the Star Tours console! Don't worry about being nerdy here. Whoever reads this is most likely a big nerd themselves...

![]() | Re: About monorail widget (Merged threads) As far as I can tell from the console messages I've been getting in the runtime, the issue comes from certain values on the Stop Watch being on when the composition starts. I'm working out a way to make sure they're all off on Watch 2 when things get started. Most of the errors you're seeing are because I was using Mathematical Expression patches instead of Math patches. Those have been replaced and all of the doors open as expected in Tiger. Now if only I could get 'em to close...

![]() | Re: About monorail widget (Merged threads) UPDATE: For those of you "not cool enough for a Mac", I may have a solution. I found a new product on-line called DesktopX. I have not dug far into it, but you may have to download it to view the widget (don't worry, it's free). If it does not work I will remove this post, and state it did not work. Windows users, please do not get too excited, as stated before, it may not work. Another factor is I will have to dig out my shaky XP to try it out, plus I will be booked this weekend. NOTICE, Windows users, the color changing, door sliding, horn honking, moving background image version will not be available for the Windows download. This is because that version is Quartz-based, and Quartz is strictly a Mac application.

![]() | Re: About monorail widget (Merged threads) What are you lookin' for Kan? Let me know what you want to see and I'll drop back with some links later. I haven't actually solved the 10.4 compatibility issue yet so everything else is sort of broken until I fix that.
