![]() | Re: PDA - Know a good one? Summer, didn't you recently get a smartphone? Like a Treo or something? You should be able to do all you need on that. If not, then totally go with an iPod Touch or an iPhone... or a Blackberry.

Once you add in the variety of applications available for the Touch, you can customize it to do EXACTLY what you want. Plus the Treo is a phone.

![]() | The HP Ipaq Travel Companion is absolutely awsome. It's primary Function is a PDA, meaning it has wonderful Calendar and address book capabilities. It runs Windows Mobile, meaning there are lots of apps for it, and you are able to use it for MP3's, movies, and pictures. It has Wifi capabilities (meaning no pricey cell-phone data plans). It comes standard with mobile versions of Microsoft Office, and best off all.......It's a fully functional Tom-Tom GPS as well. I would highly recomend it. |

![]() | Re: PDA - Know a good one? I use a Palm TX. I've added to it a portable keyboard and Documents to Go, so I can also create Word, Excel and Powerpoint papers. My lesson planner is also on it. If you have a Palm Centro--they'll be highly compatible. I had a Palm Tungsten about 5 years ago--and this works the best. I try to keep my phone and PDA separate-so if one breaks, I still have a back up. I tend to use my PDA more then my laptop. When I have to run to Denver or other school districts in a pinch, I just bring the PDA and the Bluetooth keyboard and hotsync it later. Palm TX is wifi compatible--the drawback? You are still looking at mobile pages. However, when on the road, I can pull into a Panera Bread or various coffeehouses with free wifi and check email. And, when they fix it, Micechat. As for directions, we use the TomTom. If I don't have that available I just have to remember to google it prior and save information to the Palm Address Book? It's reason for living. I just wrote about 68 Christmaskkah cards using the bugger. It was populated with my wedding and with every invite I sent I added the name to the list. I found it is GREAT for remembering birthdays/personal holidays. There's a simple calculator. The screen is much larger then the Treo's and the Centro's. And since you already have a Centro--you should be able to download your information from the Centro to the TX without incident. That's my two cents. I love my PDA and when the first one died---my life came to a screetching halt. Now my problem is memorizing where all the free wifi hotspots are in town and whereever I'm travelling to. Peace, Roo

I know the areas I'm in pretty well so rarely need a GPS service so it doesn't happen a lot. Also before my Palm Treo phone I did have a Palm Tungsten and loved it, everything Roo described is correct. Having the Tungsten is what drew me to the Palm Treo phone as well because I really enjoy the interface it provides.
