What did you do with your iPhone when youu upgraded?

I'm planning on upgrading my iPhone from the original to the 3Gs in a few days and was wondering what you all did with your original Iphones when you upgraded? I assume selling it on ebay is the most logical choice, right?

Thanks!

I never had an original iPhone. I upgraded from my 2 year old Blackberry to the iPhone 3GS. I held out because I wanted a 32GB iPhone and was willing to wait until they came out with one.

Re: What did you do with your iPhone when youu upgraded?

My husband kept his as back up, since they cannot be insured. I have seen iPHONE with a shattered screen and it is not pretty....

We did consider selling it... but decided not to bother. I never really looked into what I could get for it, but assumed it would not be much since newer models are sold for $99. We decided we would rather have it as a back up than make $50 bucks (or whatever we would have got) off of it. It still has some of the games/music he put on it... so our daughter plays with it occasionally.

I will give it a home :-)

I know you can donate any old cellphone to women's shelters and other groups, who make sure battered wives, etc. can have access to a cellphone in an emergency.

I was planning to get an iPhone last month when my current AT&T/Blackberry contract ran out, but husband lost his job and now my BB is a data-less loner. :-)

If you buy one at Best Buy, they offer their own protection program (via Geek Squad) for iPhone. Costs $15 a month though. They're the only ones who offer some kind of insurance for iPhones.

It's not that great of insurance though..and I realized I've already paid into it for what I could have bought a new phone for. I'm gonna be canceling it.

Re: What did you do with your iPhone when youu upgraded?

Oh yeah I know that. I signed up for it but then ended up cancelling the service after a couple months. I'm just extremely careful with this phone. My Blackberry was built like a Timex watch... took a licking and kept on ticking. I had a red one and used nail polish for touchups (found a color that matched almost perfectly) whenever it got dropped/dinged. I had a holster for it but no protective screen or any of that. My iPhone 3GS has a military grade screen protector, 2 different cases to protect it from scratches (one has a leather-like finish & the other is a battery case), plus a carrying holster.

Re: What did you do with your iPhone when youu upgraded?

I unlocked, jail broke and sold both my original iPhone and iPhone 3G on ebay for A LOT of money. Selling my old iPhone has earned me enough money to pay for the new one's and then some. It's important to sell internationally but beware of scammers.

Re: What did you do with your iPhone when youu upgraded?

My BF is thinking about downgrading from his iPhone to save some money. If he does, he plans on keeping it and just use it as his iPod since he doesn't have one outside of that or the 1GB Shuffle I got him for his bday a few years ago.
