Motorola Droid

Verizon's first Google Android 2.0 phone is now available for order.

I just ordered mine on Verizon.com, right before the rush of people got there. The site seems to be lagging right now.

What won me over with the Droid is the fact that I've been looking to jump ship to AT&T for the iPhone, but as a poor college student, I obviously can't afford the price, as well as the horrible reception in my area.

With Verizon, I used my Family Plan's "New Every Two" $100 discount towards the Droid, and got it for $99.99 with free overnight shipping. It should be on my doorstep on Monday.

Anybody else getting it?

Re: Motorola Droid

If youre considering a smartphone with Verizon, do it before the 15th cuz they're raising the ETF to $350.

Re: Motorola Droid

As an iPhone owner, I'm looking at Android 2.0 seriously. The build quality of the iPhone is shockingly bad. My wife and I are both on our third handsets in the first year. I know one person who is on their 5th. Call reception is crappy and the 3G coverage sucks. If this works as good as they say, this may be my next phone. as long as Verizon doesn't lock it down.

Re: Motorola Droid

From what I've read, the drawbacks with the mediaplayer can be resolved by running an app. I'll look for the article when I get to a pc.

Re: Motorola Droid

Unfortunately I just got a Blackberry through Verizon about 2 months ago. If I would have known this was coming out I may have waited. If they have some kind of early trade-in deal in the future I will certainly look into it.

Just got it from FedEx. Going to put it on the charger and activate it later tonight.

I'll post a review tomorrow.

Re: Motorola Droid

Since my ultimately bad experience with the Motorola Q - I am reluctant to trust them. The Droid looks nice, but Motorola let me down when it counted.

Maybe if Nokia or LG made the Droid...
